They aren't very challenging, the only thing thats different with the 1911 is the single action trigger. For those of you who don't know about the 1911, you must cock the hammer back yourself for the first shot, then it will continue to auto-cock itself after each shot. This is basically the "safety" on a 1911, opposed to using a button or switch style safety. Other than that, it works just the same as any other semi-auto pistol.

Well just like a paintball marker you should try all the pistols you can get your hands on. With that said i am also looking to buy a new handgun and am looking at the sw99 also here is a LINK. I currently have a 9mm beretta 92g and love it but I want to go to a 40. Both are great guns but i like the replacement backstraps on the sw99 they seem to fit my hand well
I think there for, I am I think. am I?

Actually, from what i've heard over at rimfirecentral.com, the p22 is good for the first few thousand rounds, but then due to poor construction materials, the parts wear down very quickly. A lot of people seem to favor the Ruger MKII, but since beam isn't looking for a p22, this entire rant is irrelavant.

I would recomend a pistol from springfield armory, US made and they are acurate pistols at a decent price. More then they 500 round won't cause them to rattle... which some of the other guns in this thread are notorious for. My roomie in collage was a gun nut. Aside from the ak-47 and the stinky sock he also had a 1911 ACP and a WWII era .22

                              Type: Single Action
                              Chambering: .357 & .44 Magnum, .50 AE
                              Length overall: 10.24 in. - 260mm
                              Weight: 62 oz. - 1,715 g
                              Barrel length: 6 in. - 152 mm(also 10" - 254 mm)
                              Magazine: 9, 8 or 7 rounds

This piece of heavy artillery was designed as a target/sport pistol, and its appearance in many Hollywood movies made this "heavy cannon" something like "wonder-weapon" in some (read - many) minds. One of the few gas-operated handguns ever produced, and one of the most powerful and heavy.

                                Desert Eagle point five oh...

movie quotes aside, DE's are nice pistols. grip frames are bloody big though. .357 is a long cartridge, you need big hands to hold it properly.

someone listed the sig series, excellent guns, very high quality.

my suggestion is the Para Ordinance line. if someone really wanted a 1911 style weapon but wanted it in double action that'd fit the bill nicely.

then there's the Les Baer and the Kimber line of pistols.... mmmmmm yummy
