i started shaving right after i turned 13. And my family took pictures, which is/was highly embarrasing. But anyway, id go with a mach 3, and some sort of shave gel. I used to shave everyday, but then i grew a gotee, so i dont have to shave my cheeks/jaw/neck etc as often.

your dad will probably tell you what direction to shave in. I.E. shave up from the chin to the lip(missing the lip!) this is so u dont slice your lip open and junk

i remeber my dad was like put this on(after shave) and when i was doign it then he's like then scream!
i found it rather funny, after it stopped burning
thanks for the first bit of useful info of the thread! *bows*

Hm... I dont use cream, or gel, or anything. I just grab a razor and go. I never cut myself, and the only thing that ever happens is maybe 1/5 times I get a bit of razor burn, and that doesnt bother me at all. I have a pretty crappy razor, too. If you press too hard you will get burn.
I guess my face is too l33t for cuts

having used the mach 3 and the quattro, i would say stick to the mach 3. i think it does a much better job and its easier to keep clean. i always shave with the grain for two reasons, first and foremost, because it doesnt burn or tear my face up, two, it leaves enough hair so i dont look like a 2 year old. also check out the nivea for men after shave lotion. it really works well for me.

welcome to a lifetime of hell.

              very nice miscue.

i like the mach 3 as well, it does a very nice job. i tried a strait blade once, and although it did shave closer, it had quite a bit more burn and a little blood. if you use a good gel almost any razor will do the job.

but remember, the ladies dont like the strait blade, too intimidating

I think a real razor feels much better than an electric.

I think I may try out a straight edge, any advice?

well if you can find a barber shop that does straight edge go for it .. but use rubbing alcohol as after shave .. straight edge razors were kind of put aside due to the hiv/ aids epidemic in the 80's so not many barbers still use them and practice the technique

I meant straight edge on my own.

Well, thanks guys, and I did it, it was very easy. I used gillete gel and schick disposable razors, I didn't cut myself once either. It looked as though I got it all when I did it but now that I look back I left a buttload, so I think tommorow I may do it again and get the spots I missed.

Yeah, I'm a pansy. But it's quicker and easier, and I don't really care if I could get it smoother anyway.

seriously, I have never cut myself either. i just use these 2 bladed disposable razors and old fashoned colgate shaving cream. i have also never had razor burn from those razors...but whenever i use my electric razor i get the WORST razor burn EVER and i have no idea why!! it hurts so bad i wanna cut my whole face off!!
