if we do go into space, the people who ultimatly made the decision are outright crazy and merging with that brink of plain old-fasioned stupidity.
I agree completely. This reckless spending of money is unacceptable IMO.

I'm going to have to agree with Smee. Untill we get our economic problems worked out here on earth, we really shouldn't be spending the kind of money it would take.

You Republicans are so bad at managing money.

Don't get me wrong, though. I'm all for space exploration, but feel it should be done at a time when the economy is more stable.

something like this would actually stabalize the economy. Remember, as consumer confidence increases, the better the economy does. A project like this would inspire nationalistic pride and consumer confidence in things, and thus the economy would revitalize itself.

Make the consumer confident, and the economy is happy. If you wait for this to happen on it's own, then it's going to be long and hard and a wasted time waiting for the economy to revitalize when something like this could spur economic recovery to a very high level.

I think you might be overestimating the possible boost that something like this would give the economy. It will have an effect, but I doubt it will be at the levels that you speak of.

But then again, I may be wrong. We'll just have to wait and see.
