i have never heard of a sniper program. i tend to consider myself an ebay sniper due to the fact i almost never place a bid with more than 1 minute left in an auction. i just dont see the need in artifically rasing the price by bidding earlier than that. and with cable i can get 3 bids done in under a minute so i normally win the auctions i want to. -
I prefer to do my sniping manually, but have heard about the programs. Here is a site with lots of info.

Manual is better. Never wait for software as it doesn't always work. I let them run down to 6-7 seconds then BAM! SORRY SUCKER! And NEVER bid on an item UNTIL THE LAST 10 Seconds or so.

I do the same thing, last few seconts of the auction. One time my internet decided to take a dump right at that secont though, other than that ive done pretty well. I might give a program a shot just to see how it does though, because if you cannot be there when the auction ends its the best you can do. I stayed up to 4 in the morning to bid on this computer i'm using, it was amazing how many other people were up at 4 bidding on the same computer in the last minute of the auction.
