my dad uses this all the time

he wins more than 80 percent of the time too. not many people actually use the sniper programs on ebay though. dunno why. he is always getting stuff from ebay. if you check for any of the disney displays he wins alot of em. his name is like miracle sets or something like that. they work great. you can even do multiple auctions at the same time. the program automatically will post in the bid at a time you can set. you could set it anywhere from 1 hour don't know why you would do that to 1 second. although going anywhere below 3 to 5 seconds is risky(they even warn you about this on their web site). so yeah in conclusion the sniping sites are awsome.

I do it manualy. I usually bid 10 seconds before the auction ends.

                Auction Sniper

I use Auction Stealer. www.auctionstealer.com It works quite well although I only use the free service so it is a 10 sec bid cushion and I can't use any of the fancy features. I don't have time to sit and watch an auction that closes at some ungodly hour.

This service suits my purposes quite well. I recommend a sniper when you know the maximum you want to pay for your item. Enter a number and forget about it. If it goes for lower, you're a winner. If it goes too high, you don't get caught up in bidding fever. I've done probably 100 deals in the past few years and used a sniper for most of them.

There are some competing services and they use identical software. I think they use a common server somehow.

I used to use a sniper, until I found out that I was more realiable than the program. I didnt take the time to read through all of the posts, so I am just going to give the lowdown.

A sniping program for Ebay basically is a program that will, at the last minute / second, bid up an item that you have specified so that the current high bidder wont have enough time to rebid on the item, thus you win the auction.

Sometimes this doesnt work because other people have their sniper setup for the same auction, and at that point it becomes a tossup of who has their sniper set to bid the highest amount.

From what I have heard, lately the used-to-be-free snipers are now charging for this service. I recently ahve been sniping my own auctions, works just as well if you are able to be in front of the computer during the time which the aution closes.

JBidwatcher is a free eBay tool that's easy to use, multiplatform, and allows you to snipe, bid, and track auctions.

Freeware open source app. However, ebay keeps changing their form variables or something and breaks it every so often.

Hmm I know this is a little older thread, but I had to say something. I use www.auctionsniper.com for any and all auctions, I haven't lost an auction yet. It works well and I have no complaints about it.

What size and WL do you need? Are you using a HeNe? Must know more 'cause this sounds and interesting. Interferometer PB related?

                            Otherwise look at Edmunds

I've used auctionstealer for a while. If the bids don't go over what I'm willing to pay, it works quite well. But, I'm cheap so I sometimes lose out on an item that I'm not willing to pay an arm and a leg for. If the bid goes through I haven't ever lost. But I have lost because the item went for more than I was willing to pay. When I used to prebid, someone would just slowly inch it up and then snipe it at the very end.
