i think the biggest "model" rocket ever luanched was like 43 feet tall!!!!!

But the parachute never came out so it ate it hard!

my dad and his bro used to be so obsessed with model rockets when they were kids. they bought the build your own rocket kits all the time or just used stuff around the house to build rockets. they actually build one that was about 8ft tall and launched it with like 4 to 6 D batteries. the thing was so delicate though since it was all made out of balsa wood. the wind was blowing so hard the first day they launched it off though it couldn't reach a high enough altitude for the chute to fully open. 3 days of work went down the drain for them. that would really suck.

Some of the rockets these days are made to take such a beating. Ive seen rockets made around a motor before with the fins welded to the motor!

I used to have a vhs video of this guy who was tring to break the altitude record.The thing was ALL metal and was supossed to reach like 120,000 feet. He built everything for the rocket including the motor. The motor was such a beast it had like 320pounds of propellent. It was clasified as an S class motor.The biggest you can buy at hobby lobby is a D class and with every jump in letter class the amount of thrust doubles! When it all came down to it they pushed the button and it started to smoke out the bottom...A few seconds later the whole thing exploded.
There was alot of smoke from the explosion and bits of burning metal falling to the ground! all in all the guy lost like 8 grand because the steel body of the rocket wasnt strong enough!.............sucker.........

This is something that a few guys at AGD do. These things are mighty big. Actuall, if you surf around Warpig you can find pics that Bill posted of a rocket launch that he was at with some of the AGD guys. If I am not mistaken it's Zup that was into them.

Nascar doesn't count, its the hick version of auto racing. Why would you ever want to drive a car in a big circle for like 5 hours?!
