attn: IOWA and general cell phone users

I have some questions specifically for iowan's but also some general questions.

My phone died, since I have inshurance on it I'm not worried at this point, but I know I'll be paying my 35$ deductible ... with that in mind I decited to see what else is out there.

Us cellular is really getting to me

Does anyone know if I can keep my number and sign with a new provider?

What is everyones favorite provider/phone in Iowa?

Anyone use at&t in Iowa? Any gripes?

Anyone use a 6800 series nokia?

Anyone use an N-gage by nokia?

    Hey Heat.

As you know, I'm in Iowa. And I use AT&T. I love it. But, from what I hear their GSM network isn't that established. But down where you are, I believe the GSM coverage is good. (must be if you're looking at the 6800) Me? I was using a panasonic allure (old) and am now using a nokia 3560 (yeah the crappy free one). I get my cell service through work, so I can't really complain.

If I was you, and going with AT&T, and the GSM coverage is good down there, I would have gotten the Nokia 3650 for $49, but I don't see that deal on their website anymore. I think the flip out qwerty keyboard on the 6800 is cool.

You probably have already looked at all of them, but www.attws.com has their phones listed. The NEC 515 and 525 look kinda cool.

thanks beam, can always count on at least one slacker Iowan to get of his butt and repley to a Iowan thread.

Not really sure about the GSM networks in Iowa.... that's why I'm asking. I have a friend that just got the 6800 a few weeks ago and he loves it and the fold out keypad is soooooo comfortable!!! My last phone a nokia 8200 had a nice feature, the calandar, and while it was extremely handy input was a pain. SO I hope this is the solution.

I'll tlak to the guys at the store today... thanks

I used to be a slacker Iowan, now I live in Omaha. But I work in Council Bluffs so I guess I'm part Iowan still. Anyways, I have Verizon through work and it seems to be pretty decent. My brother used to have AT&T in Iowa and it blew goats - always in roam plus the phone sucked. Now he switched to Verizon and everything is fine.

P.S. I still have the Iowa sig - I'll always be an Iowan at heart.
