My house is very cold

I live in a duplex/house thing and the thermostat is in the lower guys' place. I don't know if the heater just can't pump air easily up 3 floors, or if the guys like to freeze.

My roomies and I are freezing, right now it's 63*F in my room. Hot air rarely comes out, sometimes it's just cold air. And it smells like marijuana at least once a day.

I think I am going to buy a warming blanket.

Is there anything I should look for? Just buy what's cheap?

Why don't you buy an electric heater? The oil filled ones seem to work pretty good and they only cost $50 or less.

Forgot to mention that it's against the lease to have a space heater.

Yep. Definitely talk to your landlord about it. The City of Chicago takes heating violations VERY seriously because of fires caused each year by space heaters. Some of them are caused because of carelessness, others are for faulty wiring, and others are from defective heaters.

Make sure you have a thermometer in your apartment so you can document the temperature. Here in Chi-town, there is a minimum temperature that must be maintained during the day and night.

No kidding man, during the winter the temp in my house never reaches above 62 degrees and yes it does get cold here in the dreary NW.

We rent out part of my house, the guy complains about the heat all the time, we go up to his apartment to check the radiators and the thermometer says its 75 in there, turns out the guy is running the oven with the door open. He's got it at 75 and still complains about how its freezing. He will never ever complain about anything to the town though, he has too good of a deal going
