Boost.... its not just for imports. Point out one toyota in the low 4s... how about a nisan powered car? No? Funny that. How many domestic powered ones? More than I can count on my fingers and toes?

Now if you are talking about street cars anything throwing single didget passes goes from street car to race car... and there are alot more 10-8 second V6 and V8 "Muscle Cars" floating around than their import counterparts.

Umm Afker, I don't know about you but a boosted V8 will beat a boosted V6. Its also weird because if you ever been to any drag races you will see boosted V8's getting 7-10's while your beloved boosted I6's sometimes break 10's. The reason people like imports(well people who actually know what they are talking about) will say that they are better quality engines built to higher tolerances that allow them to be boosted to insane proportions. Still it is missing that bottom end torque that V8's have. And since most import people always look to Japan like its God or something, in recent races the Skyline(what ricers think is the end of all cars) has always been recently beaten by Toyota's V8 that they built off of the Tundra. There, Japan has realised that a V8 will beat a I6 no matter what you do. Just took them a longer time to figure it out. Now I have to admit that the Skyline R33 is a sexy car, so is the S15, Ive always been a fan of Nissan(hint: I own a Datsun )

Also, the domestic market has a boosted 6 that could easily take your Supras or Skylines. Buick Grand National baby. 1000 hp

Also my two favorite Japanese Automakers Nissan and Toyota. I don't why but Toyota engines just keep going and going like the energizer bunny. I know a guy who has a 85' Corrola that has 450k ! And that is just with regular maintence. But since we are on my opinions, I HATE HONDA! Im sorry but a FWD I4 will only go so far, the S2000 while still a beautiful car still deserves a 6, and the NSX is a joke compared to Toyota's and Nissan's top cars. Ok end of rant.

Im not even going to get into the factors of funny cars because they are just ridulous.

As well as a turbo charged I6 (depending on the size of the Turbo) will be much lighter than a Turbocharged V8.

And how could you say it took longer for V8's are the way to go, when Japanese car companies were the ipitomy of using forced induction. What did all the Domestic car companies copy? Yes forced induction you have Ford with their supercharged SVT, and MOPAR!!! with a turbo charged neon.

reguardless obviously their are a fair share of fast domestics and fast imports as well as slow domestics and slow imports. But just the mere fact that some old school vettes and stangs (obviously stock) use to run 16's where a Toyota caravan runs lower 1/4 times makes me chuckle.

          Just look at these vids:

and just to make fun of all the retards who spend 500gs on their cars: http://www.streamlinemotorsports.com...mbovssupra.wmv

          good ol T78

and you show me a domestic that is not a dragger that can take on a GSXR or an R1 : http://www.felsonhomes.com/tt6spd/tony_modded600.MPG

Here is my argument, you spend 20k on your supra, now if I put that 20k into my camaro, I could very well be running 9's in the 1/4.

ROFLMAO ... I was in one of your videos

Middle video with the Lambo was produced by extrememotorsports.tv here in vegas. BTW the fastest car out there that day was the Silver Trans Am

Everyone out there was very cool. The Lambo got some serious beat downs but gotta give him credit he kept running that car like it was meant to be run. And garth's supra is a beast too, its run 10.9 but his best in it is 11.3 that I am aware of.

lol, pyro, I could very well be running 8's with that amount of money if I tried hard enough.

And the answer to the European market is coming out of Ford. Two letters: GT.

Heck in Car and Driver they did a comparison between three cars similarily priced. The GT out did the Porshe and the Ferrari. Thus showing that America still can be competitive.

Im not saying funny cars, I know a lot of street legal cars that could whoop the beejesus out of imports. Face it a turbo charged 8 will beat a turbo charged 6 when they weigh nearly about the same. You say that the 6 is lighter? Not by much, MAYBE 100-200lbs. Plus those two extra cylinders really make up for it. Here's a comparison that could really back up my speculation. Datsun 240Z's are my car, I don't know why but I just love them, the body shape, the lightness, I6 goodness. But, there is a little swap for them for a GM 350 small block. Just like the L24 engine it is iron block, aluminum heads. A guy weighed his car before and after the swap. He only gained 30lbs. Yep 30lbs. Now tell me if 2 cylinders can't make up for 30lbs? Face it displacement will always win no matter what because its just pure simple. More engine, more power, just faster. You would have to do some major weight reduction to get a Supra running with a say a TransAm.

Also you sound like the Japanese invented forced induction The first production turbocharged passenger car came from Oldsmobile in the form of the Jetfire turbo and the same year Chevy Corvair with turbo option in 1962? Somewhere around there. Turbocharging engines has been popular in the USA for a long time, LONG before Japan. If anything Japan copied the USA! Learn some history before you start making claims like that. The reason that the Big 3 stopped making more and more turbocharged cars is probably due to the economy around the 1980s. They didn't see the purpose of making one due to the expenses. Buick's Grand National was the last of the great turbocharged performance cars to come out of GM too bad sales couldn't keep them going. Just the way it works. Now when Plymouth and Mitsubishi came together to make DSM(Diamond Star Motors) turbocharging 4 bangers became popular due to the Eclipse GSX and Talon something I forgot. This sparked the trend of turbocharging cars in the 90's and 2000. It just took the domestic car makers to realise the profits that could be made off this popular trend.

What are you going to be running 8's in with 20k? Don't forget you have to buy the car with that and spend an assload on saftey quipment to be track legal, and keep it somewhat streetable.
