    New PC, woo!

I got tired of my somewhat old P3 800, so..

Turbo X-Alien Case (no windows though), 420W power supply

    - 2.8ghz P4
    - 512MB PC3200 DDR
    - 16X DVD / 32x24x40x CDRW (cannibalized from this PC)
    - Internal 6in1 Flash media R/W
    - 120GB HD / 80 GB HD (cannibalized again)
    - ATI Radeon 9200 128MB with TV-Out and DVI (not the best card, I know, but it'll handle CS, NWN, and should handle HL2 if it ever comes out, I don't care about much else)
    - SB Live 5.1

Plus some extra fans and stuff. I got a good price on it, been meaning to get a new PC for a while, so I figured what the hell and ordered it tonight. Should be here by next week.

My checking account took a hit, but I don't mind, its a nice new toy :)

heh u cant buy my case, or u sorta can, i bought an old alienware Dragon case, and put a window in the side, and was planning on getting a U shaped CCFL for the front vents to light it up and mod a top fan on.... BUT my comp doesnt cool by fans much, its peliter watercooled, so i get NICE temps for great overclocks.... sorry im a speed freak, got a peliter cooled sapphire radion 9800 pro (its now faster than XT by bunches) amd 2400, with a 220*12 oc (for u nonknowing thats 220 FSB witha 12x multiplier. this is peliter cooled of course, avarage temp anywheres from 2c to 20, depending on the overclock. the mobo is a asus a7n8x dlx rev 1.4 , i got the northbrige cooled solely by watercooling. 1 gig of pc 2100, i have no farking clue how i can get ddr 166 (166 fsb run speed usually) up to 220, im just one lucky sob :P and 2 dead 200 gig HDDs (found out my CDrw doesnt like being chained with HDDs)

I didn't pay anywhere near $1000 for it, sorry :)

              $670 + shipping.

And as for a DVD burner, I don't want one. They are too slow right now. I didn't have the patience to burn a CD at 4x, forget about a DVD. I'll wait till 32x+ DVD burner are commonplace.

6x dvd burner isnt slow, dvds and cds have diffrent speeds for teh #x rate. like 6x i think was equal to like 30-40x on a cdrw... much faster, the disks will shatter, ive already had one or 2 shatter in my cdrw (running a 2x disk at 48)

EDIT: heh my computer is fast for non 64bit, next year or so ima do my ultimate case

dvd burners aren't that slow anymore, plextor has a dual format 8x dvd+r 4xdvd-r. I just bought one but havent installed it yet cause my comp has been messed up.

I've been thinking of updating my comp. Either a P4EE or P4C with an 800 FSB and upgrade my board to handle at least 3 gigs of ram. Keep my old 128 vid card, which works very well and get rid of my seperate DVD-ROM and CD-burner and get a combo unit that does all.

Gonna have to get jiggy with the new case though. black lights and uv reactive paint on the boards. Also, no fans. Instead, I'm gonna go with a liquid nitrogen cooling system. With that much cold I should be able to overclock a 3.2 to almost 4.
Return to the free market. Get rid of all government regulations and let society make it's own decisions. Time and again the relaxing of government regulations has increased profits, innovation and the economy.
