About Lotr, it is like many of the music threads. It is your opinion, not anyone else. Law i think the movies are okay (can get a little boring at times) but i think they need some of those boring parts to make the movies as good as they are. I haven't seen the Return of the King, but i'm going veyr soon. I don't think that you can state your opinions as fact though, like law did. i would have to agree with you, but it is his opinion, and i'm sure that there are a few people that feel the same as factsoflife. I liked the movie, but like all movies somethings could have been changed, but all in all it was a good movie.

Yup because I said that what I thought was fact
Do I have problems with people not liking the movies? Absolutely not. I know plenty of people that cant stand LOTR... The "boring" parts to some people is mostly all the characterization that is necessary for the story. Without it, the movies would not do justice to tolkiens work. The only person I was directing my comments to was
" p8ntballsnowman "... for someone to comment on a part of the movie they did not even bother to sit there and watch is kind of strange. None of his comments were constructive. I would like to hear how he would have changed the ending? How would he have ended it? THe only thing I got from his post was that he went to see ROTK because he thought it was 3 1/2 hours of fighting and that was all... I am glad he was disappointed

I really hope they dont get their hands on the rights to make the "Hobbit" because that would be doomed to failure. There is just too much "material" and plot twists to be successful in a single movie. I also dont think splitting "Hobbit" movies up would work well for that either. I would really love the idea of a TV series with the budget of a movie to do a series on the Hobbit. I think it would be very cool but of course that is a little far fetched. Just thought I would say something about that since it is on the topic of LOTR material

Possible. Sci-fi channel did that with Dune, and it turned out quite well.

I dont think its possible at the level that I picture in my head but yeah anything is possible. But you would have to recast the series with the same people and thats where it may get too expensive.

Yeah Dune once again was great... then I remember they did children of dune like a year ago, which was also pretty good but not that great.

I've never read the books. I'm just not a fiction reader, i stick to non-fiction. Anyways, I loved all three movies. I thought that Return of the King was one of the best movies I've ever seen, and I plan to see it again before it leaves the theatres.

Now, my wife, and most of the people I saw it with, are hardcore LOTR fans, and they also loved the movie. They kept complaining about the scrouding of the Shire not being in the movie, but they explained it to me and I don't like it, so I'm glad it wasn't there.

I've always told my wife that the way I would have shortened the Two Towers was to not show any Frodo, and just have Gandalf offer status reports every half hour or so.

Aragorn: Gandalf, the White Hand of Sauraman draws ever near. I wonder how Frodo is doing?
          Gandalf: He's fine.

Done, shorter movie and now we can concentrate on the fighting and the drama between the characters I really like. I dug all three of the major Rohan characters and the 4 Fellowship guys that were always with them. But oh well.

Then came the third movie, where I had a biggie coke from Wendy's and got TWO refills on my super coke from the movie theatre. That night there wasn't enough Frodo, since I would only leave to go to the restroom during Frodo scenes
Or better yet, why don't you kill yourself. No, really, die. Drop dead, don't leave a note, in fact burn your house while your little ego is stuck in a bench vice so that you'll also incenerate yourslef and everything you own with it. Because that's all you're worth. You're not even wirh thte time it'll take for the house to burn down, so just kill yourself. You're a waste of space. You are nothing, you always will be nothing. Don't leave a note, you're not worth the ink. - Tyger

Yeah, the first Dune they did was okay. The second not so good. And what the SciFi Channel did to Battlestar Galactica was a crime!!! They butchered it and destroyed it! I mean come on, a female Starbuck?

the sci-fi channel is just to bizarre for me. I love science fiction novels, but whenever i turn to the sci-fi channel i just can't stand it. I loved Dune, and at some point i hope to watch the movie on the sci-fi channel.

They definitely shouldn't have shortened it. I think they could have thrown in an extra 5 minutes for Saruman's sake. I was expecting them to leave out the scouring of the Shire but there was no closure on Saruman being deposed as the head of the wizards.

i beleive there are 2 kinds of eople that went to this movie
1-people that loved the book and the fantasy story behind it
2-people taht seen the first 2 movies and loved the action scenes

i have only read a small portion of the books but i loved the movies. at least there is a story with it. i can get my action kicks from bad boys, the matrix, or elsewhere. i also agree with the movie not being long enough, peter jackson depends too much on the extended dvd imo.

Great movie. It wasnt log enough but Peter Jackson can only get permision to make it so long. He bearly got to pass the 3 hour mark. The ending was the only part I thaught was to drawn out.

Jackson is possibly going to get to make a movie based on The Hobbit. Its defanetly not set up yet thow.
Sorry for the spelling. Im still working on it.

Wow, all of you are crazy. I have no idea how you could possible want more. I just can't stand that movie. To clarify, i walked out when they kept blacking out the screen like the movie was going to be over. I just got tired of it, and just left. I will NEVER ever watch the extended version. I couldnt stand the first hour. I had to get up walk around the connesion stands during the first hour because there was no action. Very hard to stay awake.

After an hour I just gave up and went to sleep. Then my friend woke me up, and I fell asleep again about 20 minutes later. Woke me up again. Got up and walked around outside. Couldn't take it anymore. So and was walking around outside. Went back in and fell asleep for like a half hour. It was just really boring.

I don't like reading, and haven't read a book for a long time, so I'm not going to try to read those books. They seem even longer. Well thats just my opinion. To each his own.

One of the things that has to be taken into consideration is that that whole thirty minute ending is also the ending for the other two movies as well.
You have character development and ties that are forged over ten hours, thirty minutes is a short ending when compared via ratio to the average movie. Unlike Star Wars, Godfather or Indy this trilogy bleeds right from one segment to the other. You can come into Empire with little issue, you can't do the same with Two Towers.

I loved the way the third movie was done, except for the idiot sitting next to me who wouldn't shut up. Action scenes were dispersed throughout the entire movie, so the only people I think could've fallen asleep or complain that there were boring segments must have a severe case of ADD and forgot to take their speed. Plus, most of the third film is counting on you making attachments to the characters from the first two films, so if you didn't like the length of the first two or didn't even bother watching, there is no point to see the third.

PS. Saruman was already defeated before the third movie began, and Gandalf is a wizard, not a summoner.

Maybe someone can PM me why my sig was tampered
