got a new HD ...now to install it correctly..

i also got a fan controller for my loud compy, so here's the problem i'm having installing these two things....i need to get to the other side of the drive bays (to screw the other side in too, yknow?), and i opened up the other side of the case, and the MOBO tray is in the way. not only this, but the tray looks too big for the case, so i don't think i can just pull it out...plus, pulling it out will be hard, cuz i'd have to take out all the pci cards, etc. is there a way to get to the other side of the bay that i am unaware of, or am i just screwed? i installed the new HD already, but i don't like where i put it (plus it has no screws on one end). so ya, that's my problem. i can get pics up if need be. thanks for your help AO .

Check the back of your case to see if you can unscrew the tray and slide it out with the cards still in. Also check to see if the bay that holds the hard drives can be removed.

another problem is that my hard drive didn't come with any screws, nor did my fan controller. am i supposed to just create screws that fit out of thin air?

ALSO...there's metal gatelike thing blocking the 3.5" drive that the controller is supposed to go into...how do i remove that, and how do i remove the plastic cover? this is a separate issue altogether, which can only be addressed after the drive bay problem is addressed.

Yes the drive bays do come out. You gotta move that latch at the top of the bays and then the whole assembly will come right out.

Now with the "metal gatelike thing" you should beable to bend it back and forth to remove it. You may have to take out your floppy drive to remove the plastic cover first to make that a lot easier.

Hope that helps, talk to me on AIM if you got any more questions.

I use to have the same case, as cletus said all you have to do is pull back the level above the harddrive bay and it will slide right out. Just wiggle the metal grate back and forth untill it comes out and you should be able to just push the plastic cover out, push from inside though. As for the screws if you dont have any you will probably have to go to a computer store to get them, just ask for harddrive mounting screws. The harddrive screws may work on the fan controller, if not you need cdrom mounting screws which have a coarser threading.

Yeah those levers. When you pull out the drive bay leave the lever pulled back and when you put the bay back just move it back in place to lock it in.

and if you wanted the screws and the other stuff to come with the hard drive you should have bought the kit
