WTF is wrong with my laptop?!

I got a new laptop for Christmas, and it's acting mad weird. I didn't even notice it till i tried to run halo, but the cpu is running crazy slow. It's a Athlon XP-M 2500+, and its runing at abut 650MHz. Anyone know why or how to fix it?

I'm usualy prtty good with this stuff, but this totally baffles me.

Well thats AMD for you ... they say 2500+ but really its as good as a 650 PIII hehehe

J/K ... Check your bios, according to that read-out you have a clock of 133 and a multiple of 5 which comes out to a 650 MHz CPU. Something got changed in your BIOS and you will need to change it back ...

This could be something as simple as just resetting it to defaults which should do the trick, but will also reset any other changes you might have made.

It could just be how the chip is designed. My laptop has a centrino chip that will run faster or slower depending on what I am doing to save power. What kind of video card does it have, that could be your problem. You might just have to change the clock though, I had to do that when I had my XP 1700+

I think I figured it out.

I think that it throttles the CPU to get more batery life. Because if I leave the real-time clock checker thing open and start doing stuff it goes up to about 1855MHz, but when it's just sittig there ideling, it goes down to about 530.

It kinda freaked me out when i first saw it. Prolly cause I'm not fully awake yet, hehe.

Go into your bios, your prollly dont have your clock speed up all the way
