    Best deal for a laptop?

Well this computer is old and crappy. The fan was falling off the other day, making a loud annoying noise. You can't even buy a new processor as slow as this thing anymore.

Heading off to college soon as well.. and need to get the best for my buck. I *will* be gaming on it, so it should be able to withstand games out now. Battery life is kinda nice.

What brand is best? From there, I can pretty much go on my own.
(Oh.. And whats up with XP being the only processor option >< I want 2k or 98SE darnit! XP is the devil)

    Thanks

hmm i love xp but whatever i guess if you like lockups that cool too

if your looking for a gaming computer that is going to be able to run next gen games and all other workhorse programs, you probably looking at about 3000$$$$$

i know dells top laptop got a great review from maximumpc last year as did the top alienware.

and im pretty sure the dell is also but alienwares is upgradable which is a plus.

If you want games .... alienware would be my 1st choice hands down ... however they are spensive. Otherwise get the dell desktop replacement. Both of these run standard pc style setups. ... otherwise pretty much anything else is going to suck gameswise.

Lockups? Nah. My school runs 2k .. never has any problems. And 2k is pretty much 98 with networking options.. and I don't like the xp style. Yes.. I know you can change the way it looks.. but it just has a different feel to it still.

Alienwares are ok, WAY overpriced and seem to have problems.

I got a Toshiba Satellite on black friday for 499, its so sweet, i love it.

Its a shame you cant build your own laptop, that would be sweet.
