sure there are better ships than the Javelin. Try doing hte auroran, polaris, or rebel strings and you will get better ships.

Also, start an new game and do one of the other 5 mission strings in the game.

Wow, I have no idea what this entire thread is about, but it amazed me, seriously.

It was like hearing two huge car guys discuss cars and engines and what not. Don't get me wrong, I'm big into cars too, but some of my friends know alot more then I do, and its awesome to hear em just rattle out strings of what sounds like jibberish.

      Carry on, please...

after you beat a mission string all the other strings are closed to that pilot. You can do little missions, or if you feel like it, just get some really powerful escorts and start taking over planets.

actually, you contact the planet like you are going to talk to tehm, then demand tribute. After this, the planet will send wave after wave of warships after you.

Be careful tho. This is just about the easiest way to be killed if you aren't careful. I wouldn't recommend it unless you can get a ship with long-range weapons. AKA not the javelin!!

If I remember correctly, you cannot switch which ship you own during or after the vell-os string. I recommend starting a new pilot, then do menial labor and small missions until you have the money for the nicer used valkerie or a pirate valkerie. This is one of the nicest ships in the game, and will serve you until you can get into a good mission string.

Next, do whatever it takes NOT to get into the vell-os string. This means to not accept any mission to earth that has less than 10 tons of cargo or is worth 15000 credits. Once you have accomplished this, just visit the bars of any and all planets you come to. Eventually you will be picked up by one of the mission strings.

Also, do a google search for EV Nova. There is an excellent site called www.evula.com, or something close to that. The site can answer pretty much any of your questions about the game.

good to know about the vell-os thing. I havent played the game since it was mac-only. And then it was version 1.01

I'm kinda afraid to start playing the windows version.
