A CNN Top Ten Poltical list for 03'

    Link

This is a good list. I like most of the ones in here and agree. I especially liked the Lousianna piece, although I thought it was a little skewed.

It is not at all suprising that the races went to runoffs. They're designed to and only rarely do they not. Also, why it's a suprise that the host of Mardi Gras votes democrat is beyong me. However, they did beat back Bush two times (although the senate seat is in my opinion the bigger victory), that that deserves a second look.
Or better yet, why don't you kill yourself. No, really, die. Drop dead, don't leave a note, in fact burn your house while your little ego is stuck in a bench vice so that you'll also incenerate yourslef and everything you own with it. Because that's all you're worth. You're not even wirh thte time it'll take for the house to burn down, so just kill yourself. You're a waste of space. You are nothing, you always will be nothing. Don't leave a note, you're not worth the ink. - Tyger

Its fun to read CNN credit the simple "buisness cycle" for rewarding Bush with a good economy (which is largely true). Yet when the economy was good under Clinton, it was all thanks to him...

Oh and of course, one of the top 10 poltical moments is Bush being deceptive and getting away with it with a "carefully planned, deftly executed" photo-op...

    At least they mentioned Saddam...

Maybe because it was due to the business cycle?

          WRONG!!!!!!!!

The recession began in 2000! Bush was sworn in in Jan 2001. The market slide began in 2000, again not during Bush's Term!!!

Clinton was in office and during the start of this past recession. Bush had to deal with and fix it. Get your FACTS straight!

It for the most part was due to the business cycle. But Facts' point is Clinton got credit for the boom during his tenure in office. And Bush got the blame for the recession (which really did start the last 2 quarters of Clinton's term) but Bush doesn't get the credit.

Now, probably a little of the credit should go to Bush because his tax cuts really did help the economy. Plus, it would also be fair to remember that Bush's economy had that minor little hiccup called the WORLD TRADE CENTER BEING DESTROYED. I mean, that was a major body blow to our economy and it's not like Bush had anything to do with it.

The economy was already going downhill before the WTC from what I remember.

That was in reference to the WTC being destroyed; I mean that WTC isn't much of an excuss.

Please don't take this as me saying you're wrong. I didn't follow politics at all since the last few months; I'm just trying to learn.

Maybe your new year's resolution should be to lighten up.

Actually it was stagnating. 9/11 pushed it down hard. The blow to the financial and airline industries was huge!

The airlines had layoffs in the tens of thousands after 9/11. The financial markets plummeted on the day the market re-opened. 9/11 was this generations Pearl Harbor and it did damage far beyond the 3000+ lives those bastages took!

As deadeye already started saying, the WTC tragedy halted the slow recovering that had begun at that time. Remember, there had been a tax cut and recovering was beginning at the time of the 9/11. The effect 9/11 had on the economy really can't be overstated. Consumer confidence disappeared. The airline industry was obliderated overnight. The financial market lost thousands of its best and brightest AND whole financial firms were lost. Billions of dollars of assets were sunk into firms that no longer existed with brokers that were no longer alive. Quite simply, it was chaos. It is very likely that the recovery we are experiencing now would have happened a year ago (maybe sooner). But 9/11 threw our economy an elbow and a kick to the groin that it was not ready to take.
