the only downside is i can't tell where the nob is..pointing? like there's no indicator so i dunno if i'm all the way up or down or half way, etc.Originally posted by Ginjiroku
that fan controller is supposed to be really good. It's not the one I would get because I want one that fits in a 5.25in drive bay but that one is very cool.
djbacon- very similar...but not exactly the same..hehe
...nice power cord arrangement btw..much nicer looking than mine...fan controller added about 4 feet of cording in there (literally..)

There are two ways to make the cabling neater both are cheap but one is more awkward than the other.
1 Small spirowrap and cable ties
2 Remove all the plugs cut cables to correct length and shrinkwrap the cables and replace the plugs and then cable tie as required
or the real getto way is just use insulating tape around the cables.
If you look at the powersupply cables if you have used an Y leads you might not have needed to as there are normally at least two power leads that are rarely used that are the correct power but have the wrong plugs on so you can use those cables but swap the plugs. It is better to cut the old cable plugs off and use new as the crimping is a pig to undo and it is pennies to buy new plugs...just remmember to follow the colour coding
I am just about to build up a new pc for a friend so the store having all the parts in stock today dependant I will post pics after I have finished and it will be a combination of spirowrap and plug swapping...no shrinkwrap as he isn't paying enough for my time to do it but MY next machine will be done that way.Comment

ultimator- i did actually use some ties..but again..not helping much. can i see the inside of your case for an example of what the hell to do?
fire- it was only 18$...i'm not too upset. plus, i'm waiting til dvd burners are faster AND cheaper...which i predict happening within a year..easy. ESPECIALLY because SVCD and VCD dvd players are becoming more mainstream...meaning people will be able to watch DVDs on CDs basically for a lot less money and trouble than a DVD burner....
to all- i don't notice the first three fans slowing down very much, but the last one does..it's kinda sad lol. anyone know of a way of viewing the fan's RPM's (they aren't listed in BIOS)....?
EDIT- i put my ear up to one of the fans and it does slow down dramatically, i just can't tell because of the overall sound of the machine (i'm guessing it's the CPU fan, the radeon fan, and the mobo fan that are the real noisemakers)Comment

Usually the noisiest components are the cpu fan, power supply fan, and harddrives. DVD burners are getting cheaper and fast, although the cheap ones aren't fast and the fast ones aren't cheap. I just bought a dual format plextor which is 8x DVD+r and 4x dvd-r and it burns fast enough for me. I don't think SVCD or VCD will ever be really mainstream because VCD's aren't even known to most people, even fewer people know how to make their own. The quality of a DVD is just better.Comment

The fans speeds aren't listed in the bios as they are not connected to the mother board and even if they were, in some bios's you have to enable the monitoring...if you had bought a more expensive fan control unit that fitted in the 5 1/4 bay then you could have gotten fan speeds and temperature readings too.Originally posted by impostal22

I have finished building that PC I spoke about before and when I can lay my hads on my digital camera I will take some pics for you so you can see "a way" of keeping it tidy. It isn't perfect but then with all that amount of cables inside it never will beComment
