Call of Duty looks by far to be one of the funnest games for the PC I've seen in a while. I played the demo at CompUSA but I'm wondering how the rest of the game plays. Anyone own it, play it etc. Also I give mega props to Activision for the graphics and story line.

The game itself is good but very short and very scripted. At some points this becomes hideously apparent, for example sometimes you won't run into the right area, causing all your teammates (who, have the aim and tactics of a 7 year old retarded manitee) to stay behind until you either run back so they follow you again or you run to the next waypoint, where they suddenly perk up and fall in again.
The story is split into 3 campaigns, American, British (with voicee from Jasan Statham, Turkish from the movie snatch)and Russian, personally I'd have liked a German campaign too, but I guess people don't like to play the losers. Gameplay wise , all of the game plays pretty similarly, your average "run around, shoot stuff, run around some more" shooter.
What really sets this game apart from others (MOH:AA comes first to mind, who some of the team of which left midway through to develop Call of Duty) is the atmosphere, the most memorable of which comes from the first Soviet missions, which closely (almost to the point of Plagereism) follows the movie Enemy at the Gates. As you sail up to and assault the city of Stalingrad you feel like such a small part of a huge machine* seeing all your comrads getting mown down by MG42 fire all around you, a fantastic experience. Unfortunately this gaming joy quickly deteriorates into an irritating quickload/quicksaveing excersise.
Overall, a very fun, albeit short gaming experience.
*Interesting factoid of the day: Soviet WW2 Military tactics seemed to be
, causing them around 25 million deaths from the war. Just for perspective German losses (who lost the war) were around 15 million. Silly commies.

great game.... best wwii game there is
Jonneh mentioned that there should have been a German campaign. I agree. One idea that I had for this was that they could (in an expansion or something) let you play as the Afrika Korps, the Wehrmacht soldiers who weren't really "Nazis", per se. They had a guy on history channel one time who had been a rabbi in the Afrika Korps' area of operations, and he said that their behavior was entirely proper. Rommel later played a part in the plot to assassinate Hitler. Sounds to me like a pretty good way to work in a German campaign.Your head asplode!Comment
