well...i spilled gatorade on my computer, by accident. it turns on, and the screen doesnt work, but then the other day the screen worked normally, then flickered, then turned off..is there any chance of my computer being able to work without being tampered with? like will it just dry?

*movesm sprite can away from laptop*
I have spilled all sorts of stuff on regular keyboards, I must have gone through like 4 or 5 keyboards in a year. Gotta be careful, its VERY hard to fix, and very stickyDub V

Does it power on? Have you tried hooking a monitor to it? Considering that it's a laptop, having the mobo shorting out most likely be a costly one, money wise. It has to be sent back to Compaq/HP or local tech store for repairs. Either way, it will take some time to get fixed. The things that should be salvageable should be the HD and any PCMCIA cards. It's probably more cost effective to buy a new one, considering the value of your laptop and the cost of getting it repaired. You still can retrieve your data on the laptop HD by hooking it up to your regular PC with a converter cable. The laptop HD is still an IDE drive, just in a smaller package. Once you hook it up, copying it to your pc will be no problem. Provided that both the laptop and PC file system are the same, ie NTFS or FAT32. Hope this helps.
