ok i have a used computer that diddent come with the win 98 disk, and now i need it. im installing a home network and i need that cd! is there any way around it? any ideas? please!

try pointing the install path to c:/windows/options/cabs
if its not there you gotta get a CD.______________________

Is it asking for a specific file? If so try looking for it online. Otherwise borrow it from a friend or try to buy it cheap somewhere.Comment

What brand pc is it? Alot of folks copy the CD over to the HD and put it in c:/win or something simaler. Take a peek for a directory labled something like that. If so you can hack the registry and it will never ask for the CD again.
If not then yeah you proboly need to get a CD.

You missing a driver for a network card? Just a guess. Why is it asking for the disk? Exactly what are you trying to do?
If you don't have a win 98 disk then u should have one for the future. There are many ways to get one but other than purchasing one almost all others are illegal in some way.Comment

For some reason windows needs the cd. I just set up a computer for my aunt and had to do the same thing when I installed the network card.Comment

what its doing is installing all of the networking components needed to actually use the network. The driver is prolly already there but the components are not installed by default in the windows install.______________________
