just when i thought my computer was all better.........

ok i'm getting real sick of having problems, and i'm sure you're sick of me having problems too...SO.. here goes.....the new problem...when i right click something..ANYTHING..the hourglass sits there for about 30-45 seconds before bringing up the menu. )#(@%*@#!%)*(@#*%)(@%WTF IS GOING ON????????? could it be because my hard drives are too close together and they're overheating or something? i'll post a pic of the two HD's...and keep in mind there's a fan in the front of the case RIGHT in front of the two harddrives.

ps- i'd love to format but 6 gigs of music tells me i shouldn't...
pss- it's happening on BOTH harddrives...dunno if that helps.

Im fairly certain it wouldnt be the HD's. Have you tried the basic maintenance moves like cleaning up unneeded files, scandisk, and defrag? Defrag can make a HUGE difference in your computers performance.

How much HD space do you have and how much are you using?

          HD1-41.5 free out of 76.3
          HD2-85.9 free out of 111

as weird as this is..the right clicking problem just went away...i rebooted and it was happening again for the first 5 or so minutes of being on..and now it stopped..key point: there were NO foreign processes going on in the background at any time..so i don't think it's a virus..

EDIT---now the problem seems to be only happening on my second harddrive..with large movie files..not small ones...w..t..f..........

Your hardrives have the space to be seperate you can drop one down a slot so that will free up for air to flow below and above both drives. If you can fit another fan at the front do it...most modern cases allow the fitting of two fans at the front.

A desktop clean up followed by a disk clean up on both drives followed by a defrag would help epsecially as you haven't said you have only just done that

if i drop the bottom one down a slot..it'll be on the VERY bottom...so i didn't think that'd be a good idea...*SEE PIC BELOW*

i don't get what the second paragraph means...cuz i *JUST* did a disk cleanup and defrag...

Ok I missed the two days ago post :o

why does it seem wrong for the drive to be right at the bottom...the lower harddrive is generating heat same as the top one and heat rises so that "could" be one of the causes of your problems by moving it down one slot it will allow the hot rising air to be blown away by the fan/s

becauseeeeeeeeee...i noticed that the bottom of the HD is where the actual chips are exposed and stuff soo i figured if it was right at the bottom..it would be counter productive because the exposed parts would be cut off by the bottom of the drive bay..but maybe i'm an idiot and don't know what i'm talking about (seriously, i probably am).

what's really irritating me is that it starts out as a problem on both hd's..then only on the second one..with larger movie files...

There is always a trade off...not all hardrives are open at the bottom...another way would be to move the hardrives entirely and put them up the top with the dvd and cd burner but encased in a Coolmaster cooldrive enclosure...thats how I have mine. the hardrive are together but the caeing is made of ally so it is one big heatsink and it has a fan together with a filter...air but dirty air over hardrives isn't good either.

I know my burner is slow but when i bought it is wasn't...I may change it but for now it is fine, as you have a black case paint the drives if you don't like the colour..it actually is a sorta silver though the pic looks beige.

BTW don't you think posting your sig image 7 times a little excessive

what would YOU suggest mark? and the latest development...pixels seem to be royally screwing up...sigh.

i'm pretty poor so a poorman's solution to the HD problem would be best...is it a problem that the harddrives are as close as they are?

oh ya...i accidentally had the fan in front of the harddrives turned all the way down a few days ago...it was still on just not as fast...could something have been damaged by not having that fan on all the way?
