could the harddrives have been really damaged because the fan in front of the two HDs wasn't up all the way?

do you think it's necessary to buy that thing?

Ok just seen the screen shot...that is one of 3 things
      1. Graphics card dying
      2. Monitor dying
      3. Graphics card drivers need updating

or a real outside one now, the cable from your graphics card to your monitor is either too close to a power lead or it is dying. I had a vertical line on my pc and swapped the Graphics card (under guarantee)..still there...swapped the monitor(under guarantee)...still there....replaced the extension monitor cable I had installed...problem fixed

It doesn't matter if the bottom of the HD touches the drive bay; if you think about it the bottom of the top HD is touching the lower HD. Anyway, this is an extreme, but whenever I am having lots of wierd problems I just reformat and reinstall windows. It will take awhile to back up everything to cd's with a 16x burner, so reformat one drive at a time. Move everything you want to keep off of the system drive and reformat that, then do the same for the other.

I have the same case(thts the Thermaltake, right? cause I have a Xaser II). Just drop the 2nd HDD to the bottom. It won't short out and tht way, the fan infront of them can blow air through them, and not under.

Edit: That probobly won't fix your problem, it's just good maintnance(sp?).
