    Prayers for a fellow paintballer

Alright, this is kind of hard for me.

2 days ago, my cousin Marcus was involved in a serious accident. The short and skinny of it was that he landed skull first on a concrete surface from a height of about 6 feet(a pickup truck to be exact). Currently he is at Univ. Tenn Medical Center in Knoxville in the ICU in a coma. Twice so far the doctors have warned us that he may not make it through an episode. He survive 48 hours, and then some type of cerebral pressure built up and the doctors more or less said "This is it". Fortunately, the pressure dropped and stabilized at a healthier level. He was given an MRI to confirm whether or not he had significant brain damage and for the time being he has not suffered any. He does have at least reactionary muscle control(pinch reflexes and such). He also can move his head and such, so things do look brighter than thy did 2 days ago.

However, current estimates don't include recovery, but we are hopefull and know he'll pull through, day by day.

All my family asks for is that you pray for him. I will try and post updates when I can.

    P.S.
He plays paintball, so if you need a connection with him, there it is.

                Okay, well heres the update...

The doctors held a meeting with all the available family members. The left side of his brain is severely damaged. He may or may not regain conciousness. If he does, he will be paralyzed on his right side and will not be able to talk. Other than the brain damage, he is physically fine. He has a healthy skin color, can breathe on his own, and does not seem to suffer any other problems in that respect.

His dad and mother held another private meeting that basically announced that they plan to do whatever is in Marcus's self-interest. They wish for everyone to pray for the best, but be ready to accept the worst. They also wish for this to remain their decision. If the time comes that the decision needs to be made whether to keep him on life support or not, they want it to be their sole decision and it to be respected as the best choice for his well being.

Thru and thru, We just wish for everyones prayers, even if you don't believe in God. Thank you all. You have no idea what this means to us.

Wow. That is awful. Life sucks sometimes. Anything can happen at any time. I don't feel safe anywhere anymore. It's a good thing Marcus isn't here in Memphis right now, the hospitals have stopped performing surgery because of the lack of blood donations in the city. My best wishes for you and every member of your family.
Interesting Fact: You save 4 people every time you donate blood.(Heard that on the radio) So go donate some blood! Thats where I'm heading first thing tomorrow.

People this is a good time to remind you that your wishes as to life support should be communicated to others. If your a minor then make sure you parents know. Write it down for them. Those of you over 18, get a living will. There are several online cheap ones that will comply with your states laws. Fill one out and have it witnessed and notorized. they are like 10 bucks. And put it in a safe place and make people aware where it is and make the person who is to make the decision to invoke it aware and that they are willing to accept that responsibility. It's important.

Done! He should be better in a couple days. God is an amazing God.
The very existence of flamethrowers proves that sometime, somewhere, someone said to themselves. 'You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.
