well im not in the arguing mood either. and i dont want it to seem that way. if i had a family member killed it personally wouldnt matter much to me how it happend. its not like one bullet through the heart makes them less dead. i dont have any idea how this action relates to the convention, but at a time of war i cant say what these guys did was out of line.

Its my understanding that general military rounds (not sniper ammo or stuff like that) is meant to take the target out of the fight, not necessarily kill it. It takes up more resources and slows down movement to tend the wounded then to just abandon the dead.

Its war, and it ain't pretty. I have to say that it doesn't matter what happens. Not everyone remembers the convention(if it even applies or not). They saw a target... therefore they eliminated it.

One question that arises is why kill someone who is wounded?

              Just read the second page.

Seems like procedure. No troops, definite threat= dead enemy

I could care less if they shot those guys with a Hellfire missle. I cant believe some people would even complain that they were killed with too-large a caliber weapon. So, killing someone with a 5.56mm round is somehow better than killing them with a 30mm round? Those insurgents would use any weapon they could to kill our guys. Thank god our side is the one with the big guns.

The saddest thing is that most reports seem to indicate that most of the insurgents are attacking the US troops are doing it for money, not ideological reasons. Getting shot to hell for a few bucks sucks.

You shoot until the ENTIRE threat is eliminated. If someone is moving they can still kill. Pull a grenade... detonate a bomb... whatever... if they moving they are dangerous to you and your buddies. If you allow one moment of hesitation or movement out of them that ends up potentialy killing one of your own you are wrong to have done so. There is no second guessing in war. No second down. We do not have the luxury of questioning the guys doing their job as they have very little time to think about it. It has to be automatic. We have no right to question what they decide on a split second to do. They are on the scene and have to make a QUICK decission where lives are at stake. We certainly do not want them to take a minute to think and have themselves or their buddies killed while doing so or as a result of. Back em up. They do not have time to think it all out all you arm chair Monday morning Quarterbacks out there.

Those soldiers got unlucky. They were engaging in action that placed themselves in a position to be legally killed by another army, they got spotted, they got themselves killed.

From what I've seen and read I have no doubt the right thing was done.

One of my teachers husband was in Iraq and he showed us this video that was like 7-8 minutes long of the same kinda stuff. Cept they blew up this huge building w/like 5 trucks and then they found the cave that pple started storming out of and they blew it up too...what are they teaching us in America's classrooms?
