ya, college is the only way for me.

My plan is to get an ROTC scholarship(hopefully these scores will help). And enter a branch afterwards.

Im still undecided about which branch I want to do, Army or AF. It really has to do with what I want to do with my life. Im thinking about either going career military, or do my duty and get a civ. job. If Im going career, Ill go Army, but if Im going to be looking for a civ. job Ill go AF.

It is fun having recruiters call you and getting letters. Im starting to get info from colleges I didnt even request it from.

I really like this. Someone actually wants me.

the military will be knockin down you rdoor.

If you consider any of the military branches, all I can say is question HEAVILY HEAVILY the quality of life you will have. Im in the AF, and I live very close to teh Marine camp in Okinawa, let just say, Im a much happier man than they.

i think this is how it is...

army = tuff, fast promotions, poor facilities, biggest range of jobs

NAVY = chalanging, average promotions, decent facilities, limited jobs
            (Marines)

af = easy, very slow promotions, good facilities, variety of jobs

So...depending on your physical/mental abilities, your long term goals, and your facilitative preferances...choose one

just remember...we are all on the same side

I hate to break this to you, and I am not trying to be mean - but a general score of 66 is just high enough to qualify you to take a second test to see if you can qualify for the nuclear program. You need at least a 90 overall on the ASVAB to qualify for the nuclear program without taking the second test. A good friend of mine had better scores than yours, took that test, and didn't pass it, so it's far from a sure bet. I am waiting to leave for the Navy nuclear program right now, but also have an application pending for NROTC, so I can tell you a bit about both. I didn't take it, but I understand that the nuclear test is heavy on science and physics.

As for ROTC, it doesn't matter if you got a 99 on the ASVAB, they don't even look at it. You are admitted or dismissed mainly based on your SAT scores, grades, any awards you may have won, recommendations from your teachers/counselor, and some essays you write at the end.
It also helps if you are already enlisted in a branch when you apply. They aren't accepting applications anymore for next year, so if you want to go you'll have to wait for the year after that. If you haven't taken your SAT's yet, take them ASAP. If you have (I assume you have if you're being contacted by colleges) then post your scores and grades here if you feel okay doing that, and I could possibly give you some idea of what your chances would be to get into ROTC.
              Your head asplode!

I got a 93 on my general, if I remember right, i know it was mid 90's. My total was high 90's. To be honest, it all doesn't mean much. Unless you want to get into a service academy, that is. If you want to be a engineer in the navy, you get the degree first, and the navy will fall over themselves to get you.

I havent taken my SAT, and my ACT scores were less than desirable. I made a 19 as a sophmore with no chemistry or geometry classes. So Im waiting to retake that first.

Man, how old are you? Very slow promotions. To be promoted to staff, the AF is accepting like %40 right now. And thats down from the previous 5 years, they are just givin it away.

                      LOL
Naval acadamy? You have some P-3 guys staioned here with me at Kadena, they are all right. We hang out on the weekends sometimes. Im AF special ops, so we see alot of other forces as well. I still prefer the AF lifestyle much better.

                        I am 18

Those were just my general assumptions...I do not know everything, but that is the (very general) impression I have got of each branch.

"I still prefer the AF lifestyle much better."--
My point exactly, If people like the lifestyle better than they will probably stay with it longer, right? Thus later in their carrier when they are up for promotion there is more people to choose from, and the chances of being picked decreases.

Just my thoughts, no matter how pathetic they seem

I got an 81 overall and was going to join the Army reserves. I decided not because I'm a senior in hs and wanted to be done with reserves by the end of college. Unfortunately, the reserve commitment is for 6 yrs, leaving me in reserves for 1 yr. after I graduate college. I wanted to go through ROTC during college and then do Army's SF program after college. Plus, every female relative I have begged me not to join because of all the people getting sent off to Iraq. Plus, my cousin just got back from Iraq and they didn't want me to get sent off too. He's only 23 and he's already a veteran of 2 different hostile conflicts (Kosovo and Iraq).

anyway, scores are average, check what your gt scores are, thats what is gonna tell you what jobs you can get. anything above 110 and you can get any job you want in any service, providing there are opening avaliable of course. dont let recruiters screw you, they will try. talk to regular people in the services, like the people here on ao, they will be more honest.

Dude those are very good scores. I took mine in 98 or 99 and managed an 86 overall.
In all honesty, being in the Air Force, I'd tell you that the Air Force has quite a bit to offer you in every field. Just do your self a favor: Don't be an SP/Mp. Those people that I know who are all not too happy with their lot in life.
And, in all seriousness choose a job that will give you some training in theoutside world. Being an ariel gunner is cool but what can you do with it compared to being a pharmisicst or a nurse?
Giant flying dogs are gonna give you a flame-thrower enema!!!
