The first couple of roles for the upcoming Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy movie have been cast. Anyone else as excited about this thing as I am?

That could be cool. It's a pretty surreal book series, though. I'm not sure how well it will transfer to screen.

Well, in case you don't know, it's not going to the book, just based on it. Even still, it would be hard to make it into a movie..

It'll be a version of the general story. There were so many differences between the radio, book, and tv versions that it'd be hard to call any one version canonical.

has anyone seen the original...its pretty funny just because the sets and special effects are so bad. anyway the book was great hope the movie is good

I saw the orginal TV series, and the sets etc only look bad in todays terms...though some of the um "special" effects were deliberately bad...that dual head thing was cutting edge stuff at the time.

I have the books, the Radio show on tape, and the "Mini" TV Series on VHS. All very good...though the Movie/TV Series only covers Hitchhikers and Resturant.
