Question about Car Amps and Subs

I looked around and really didnt find my answer.

My friend is installing 2 12" AudioBahn into his blazer, he has already bought the subs, but how exactly do we know what kind of amp to get? Does it really matter what kind of amp he gets or does it need to match with the subs?

I don't know a whole lot about this but I'm pretty sure you want a mono channel amp. The amp doesn't need to have more watt output then the subs can handle. LIke if they are 1000watt subs then I think you just need a mono channel 1000 watt amp. However you might need a dual channel 1000 watt amp. I would wait for Miscue to answre your question.

Bottom line is the amp doesn't have to match the brand of the subs. After that there are endless choices.Figure his budget and get the most power (RMS not Peak) at the lowerest THD (distortion) and go from there.Stereo or mono dosn't matter much either way,sub bass is mono anyway and most stereo amps are bridgeable as well.
