God forbid the free music you are downloading isn't high quality.

You sure do complain alot about something you stole.

"Yes, hello, is this the BBB?"
"Yes it is sir. How may I help you?"
"Yes, I want to file a complaint about the shirt I bought at Target. It has a big stain on it and when I returned it, they said they can't take it back."
    "When did you buy it?"
"I didn't buy it. I stole it from them because I didn't it was worth the price they were asking. Then the little ink bomb exploded and covered my shirt in blue ink. Those jerks ruined my shirt."
    ":::click:::"

Seriously, your complains about the RIAA defending their material hold as much water as a Fishing net.

You stole material from a company and they wish to defend it. Ya know, this could go under "Dumb crook news" on John Boy and Billy.
    BLOODY MURDER!

yeh, im seriously tired of people "justifying" downloading MP3s...Just admit you are stealing...thats plain and simple what it is. Intellectual property is not as tangible as physical property, but it is owned in just the same way....

I believe the DMB was the 2nd highest grossing artist in 2003. If anything, file sharing helps your band.

        Suck it RIAA.

                I'll admit I'm stealing.

And IIRC, wasn't The Offspring one of the bands that supported Napster back in the day?

Just because a band supports file sharing doesn't necessarily mean their record label does. The band itself doesn't put the false files on file sharing networks. The band only has to worry about their own money, which is mainly gained through touring. Thats why a lot of bands don't care so much about file sharing, the money they make off CD sales is tiny compared to a concert tour.

Record labels have to make their money off record sales, and they have to worry about paying everyone from the CEO to the schmucks in the mail room and on the production line.

I freely admit to downloading music, but you aren't taking money out of any artists pocket. You are taking money away from the record label and its employees.

Bands are smart to support file sharing for multiple reasons.

                  A) It makes them look good to a lot of their fans.

                  B) MOre people will listen to their music, which is more people who are likely to come to their concerts.

                  C) In the end it doesnt matter because their record label can still try to fight the file sharing anyway.

I doubt many bands support file sharing because of the music. Maybe bands who support bootlegs such as Pearl Jam, but other than that, they are still in it for the money.

Some kid sells me brand new CDs for $3 at school. He can get me any CDs I want. The trick I use for DLing Mp3s is to look at the ones that are not mass shared. They usually work.
