    Carrol Shelby does it again

"AutoWeek BEST IN SHOW WINNER: It's the return of the king and his Cobra. With the debut of the Shelby Cobra concept, Ford completes a power trilogy of sorts, reliving its performance past with the new Mustang, Ford GT and now this homage to the legacy of Carroll Shelby, the aging monarch of speed who's returned home after a several-decades falling out with the Blue Oval boys. Unlike the GT, this Cobra is modern in its design philosophy. But there are cues to past Shelby creations, like the yawning, semi-circular air dam, side vents and all the curvaceous sheet metal needed to cover the 19-inch meats in the rear. Power? Yeah, there's gobs of it thanks to a 6.4-liter, aluminum-block V10 pumping out 605 hp and 501 lb-ft of torque. Developed in just five months by the Ford Advanced Product Creation team, with a healthy dose of input from Shelby, the car has already been in track with none other than ol' Shel himself at the controls doing smoky burnouts. Long live the king. "

if any of you watch discovery and caught the show rides... the only thing Carol Shelby did on this car was offer a few design tips and sign the car. Not detracting from his legacy of buying an underpowered british sprts car and turning it into one hell of a growling demon or anything it's just that the designers at Ford built the car hoping to live up to his standards. I feel that they should get more of the credit...

all that said hot dang that's a nice car... watching the body work and coachwork team in cali take the frame off the truck and rolling it about in the parking lot was pretty damn cool..

Why does Ford spend so much time upping these concept cars when they could put more money and time and research into building a hella-beast 8 liter I6 Turbo diesel that would make the Cummins folks throw up?

It does look cool though. I don't really like the look of the engine though. I prefer the older look.

Agreed. The tail lights are equally ugly in my opinion. Shelby didn't do any work by the way. They called him once so he could hear the car and he signed it and drove it around.

Agreed, even though he didn't personally design the car they did a nice job trying to cue off of his genious. It will be a sad day for the automotive world when he passes away

great looking car with a strong heritage behind it.
however, i am beginning to hate the ford design team. the enw ford f150, the new mustang, gt40, and other concepts all have the same exact styling. or maybe that is what the want?

In this case, unlike riced out cars with stickers, it does have that affect on the car.
