All I know is that I have been jamming to Ram Jam - Black Betty for the past 2 days straight. That song rocks...especially at the end of BASIC.

Not a single ROCK act in that list at all Jeff, come find me at Skyball and I will explain the difference to you
I do realise that you have a difficulty with your radio stations and their percentage play of Canadian music but seriously none are ROCK in your list. Yardirds at a stretch but only 'cos Eric is on guitar.

"Rock" is an exremely wide catagorie.
To me, clowns aren't funny. In fact, they're kind of scary. I've wondered
where this started and I think it goes back to the time I went to the circus,
and a clown killed my dad.

True, but then to some extent we would appear to be just argueing semantics but what the hell.
Rock is a big range when you go into a record store...but try and tell a Def Leppard fan that the Beatles are a Rock act...big differences from both a musical sound and look...if you were to put Dance into a catagory then your list would be enourmous...the trade is known as Rock and Roll but in reality is much more diverse. There is nothing record companys like more than to relaunch Acts as the latest trend...to the extent that you get recordings that 2 years ago were just dance but now they are put on the lastest trend album. It has no right being there at all but it happens all the time.
Nu Metal has something going for it as a description but then under the same heading you could include Thrash and Death Metal...where would you put Marylin Manson...me personally in a rubbish bin (american version = trash can) but thats me but you see the problem...some of his "music" you could include in any of the three sections I just mentioned, cue a Manson fan telling us/me that he is a different one altogether but you get my point?
Rock in the probable truest sense would be the big/long haired screaming guitars and spaced out sounds...not melodic Boy Bands from the sixties who bothered the charts frequently and certainly not All Girl Harmony groups.
BTW not saying I dislike any of those but when selecting where they go in a musical genre I do have stronger feelings about them

                          Ramones DUH!!

I dunno if they are "classic rock". They definitely rock. They are considered the Granddaddys of punk rock for obvious reasons. Mostly they just made rock uncomplicated again in a decade that seemed to favor way too much wanking. Personally I don't wanna listen to a song longer than 3 minutes no matter how good the guitar solos are. I don't really like guitar solos frankly. If you can find a copy of "All The Stuff (And More) Volume II" you will be pretty happy.
Rehme, Derman 2k, Ryal 999, Lord Whoopass, 50 Cal, Tack, RTrampage and Deathstalker are all good traders
