do any of you guys have those external burners for making CDs? do they work well and are they simple to install? which ones are the better kinds.

They work well, just usually not as fast as an internal. You can also buy an internal and then buy an external enclosure so if you need to move it around you can. -
If you do go external, better be FireWire at least or USB 2.0. I have an external HD and it works fine with both my PC and Mac. I would guess it would work just fine with a burner too.

I have a NICE sony external burner under my bed. If I knew where the drivers were I would use it over my internal dell burner. They are just as good, (if you set it up right, and get a good one) and easier to install. Go for it!Comment
