Living in the south (with a shaved head), I see it everyday. I am in no way racist, I work and hang out with people of varying ethnicities. However, I feel that the racial divide is not shrinking, it seems to be widening.

I attend a University in downtown Atlanta, and let me tell you, there is a lot of racism thrown around in the classroom, the quad, even the administrative offices. But it isn't coming from caucasians, so it's "OK".

I'm also bothered by people like Will Smith and Martin Lawrence who take pop-shots at white people on TV every night. If a white comedian were to make similar jokes about other races, he'd be pulled by the FCC and there'd be riots in LA... :)

FINALLY, the first like 5 or so posts were jsut killing me, i though i was alone, sam put it in a great way, that is what i have been saying this whole thread, i think rather everyone gets in trouble for being recist or no one. dave chappelle is a hilarious guy, though he is racist he is funny, and i dont think he is xtremly racist he just has to put up that act on tv so it will funny, he makes fun of white guys all the time, i think it is funny, he makes fun of black guys too, i think that is funny too. i think we shuld all b able to laugh at comedic racism, as long as it isn't implied to purposly harm people.]

Well blacks always call whites crackers or somthing like that.
But a white person cant say anything that would possibly offend them?

while i do agree that at some point in time you need to get over the past and move on. there is something to be said for being persucuted beyond belief for some 200 years. i am willing to cut a black guy some slack if he wants to refer to a friend of his using the extremely shocking "n" word. i believe in time it will be a trend that passes, but lets keep in mind there are still a solid number of people alive in this country that remember when things were different. when the "n" word was used by whites to refer to blacks in a most negative way. it hasnt been that long ago. 200+ years of whites abusing blacks doesnt go away over night. i think this is a sort of coping mechanism that a younger generation is using and will fade with time.

its just my opinion, i could be wrong.
