The Navy Roller Coaster (kinda long)

Ok so the Navy has been a roller coaster for me, and today was the low of lows, so need to vent somewhere...here, sorry!
Anyway, I have been assigned to my ship for over three years now. I am qualified everything there is to qualify, and considered senior there. I have been late one other time in my time there, 1 and a 1/2 years ago. I am responsible and do my job well and have the respect of my juniors. This morning, I was on my way to work at my normal time(the same time for three years), and for some freak reason the bridge on the way to work was as the radio put it "an extended lift". I leave early enough every day to account for the possibility of a lift for about 5 to 10 minutes, and still get to work EARLY! But today the lift was over 30 minutes, this was a freak occurance and was absolutely out of my control. I tried calling into work but noone answered the phone as is usually the case. I show up to my morning brief 10 minutes late! 10 minutes, that is it!!! You know what I get? I get a Counseling sheet from someone who I thought was my friend!!! He counsels me and makes me sign the form so there is a written document of the one time incident, and then to top it off, tells me I need to wake up 30 minutes early from now on!!
Like I said I have only been late 1 other time, I am not going to wake up any earlier due to a freak occurance of a bridge!!! I find it a huge slap in the face being "written up" when I am a quality person there. Maybe if this was someone junior with many problems, then yes let them know with a counseling session.
I am sorry to moan and vent here, but had to, it is killing me! I have taken my deep breaths now and will be normal hard working self tomorrow, that way I know I have not let them win!!!
