Ok chat guys, I need some help

Ok one day I can happily wander into chat. The next day I can't. It's been five days now and I can't get it ironed out. I've changed no settings and yet there is a problem. I can't get in through Mirc or through the site. Both give me the ol unable to connect message. Any ideas as to what may have happened?

Load its on your end, something in a router or firewall maybe blocking your access to the chat.

Everyone in the chatroom smells bad, anyway.

As far as I can tell it's not a firewall issue. What do I need to do about the router? Pretend I know next to nothing, because I don't.

I have never been able to get into chat before I used a router or since. I went to the java applet website and was able to get into their latest version no problem...maybe that is the glitch..after all the forums have been playing up recently and every time that happens (not to everyone) chat gets announced as having an issue.

Actually, my brother in law has the same issue with his ISP, for some reason he can access chat(java) either. I never took the time to install MIrc though, so I'm not sure if its exactly the same. I would still think is sounds like a firewall or some little feature that has turned itself on that has triggered this problem. DAMN MICROSOFT

              a) you folks who can't get into chat thru java:
check if you are using XP..i.f the java applet doesnt load...u need to get a copy of virtual machine..cuz XP doesnt come with it.

              b) load...try getting *****x no its not a swear. www.*****x.com in case it does blur it out..replace stars with word for female dog...
yes its not as convenient to use, but its a better program.

Good call ref: the Java Console except I have installed the Java Console direct from Sun systems, I had a version that was corrupt some time back but the later version is intact and working and again this was before the router I thought maybe the firewall settings as in trusted sites but that don't work...I ain't gonna miss chat as I have never visited but it would be nice to know what the glitch is.
