Any way to deny access to my web server from certain IPs?

Hey guys, I was just thinking about my personal web server the other day and was wondering if it would be possible for me to ban let's say a specific IP, ISP, or DNS from being able to access my server. Possible?

    Thanks

Yup, what are you running, Apache? If so, edit /etc/hosts.deny

        Or you could use iptables/ipchains.

or he could use .htaccess which would be easiest.. since ipchains and hosts.deny will deny all services. which he may or may not want.

RDB... there are a billion and three ways to achive what you want to do. Or even better tell those IPs what you think of them heh....

How exactly are you setup as a webserver? What OS and what versions... also what are you using to route with?

You could always find out where that certain IP, ISP or DNS lives and blow them up...or you could use the default commands on many OS's to block them. Either one, personally I think the first one is a whole lot more fun
*Imagine a big flashy creative sig pic that either involves a cartoon, paintball player, some stupid internet movement or symbol with my name creatively tied into it because I'm too lazy to make one and if you don't like it, get over it!*

Well, he didn't say that he just wanted to block certain protocols or access to certain ports...

"if it would be possible for me to ban let's say a specific IP, ISP, or DNS from being able to access my server"

Besides .htaccess only works with apache, what if he wants to block ssh or ftp access?

                  Heres the htaccess howto:
