Hey mark whats up? this is Ryan from Team Rush. Here is my opinion... You know I have cancer right? thats why I'm bald. Well anyways, people with terminally ill diseases are allowed to stop treatment if they want to, really killing themselves. I know this because if I want to, I am allowed to stop getting treatment and give up. But if I did that I basically would be just killing myself. And I think that should be allowed. Because you know people with cancer choose all the time to not undergo treatment. One of my friends grandmas did that and past away last year after she found out she had lung cancer from smoking all her life. So thats my opinion...

        Uh.

When has it ever been illegal to take your own life?

You don't go to jail for attempting to kill yourself.

LOL Actually you CAN.... in a way. In many places, attempted suicide is a crime. But most of the time the punishment for this crime is to be hospitalized and/or sentenced to counseling.
I heard the penalty was the death sentence.

I think, that anyone should be allowed to end their own lives.

As far as I know suicide is illegal in every state I can think of. There of course may be a few its not. Mainly that is so to force a failed attempt person into treatment. against their will if they attempt. Thats the primary reason for it's illegality. So a court can sentence them to treatment and hold them temporarily until they can be commited to a treatment program. If they succeed then well... there is no prosecution then is there? However Suicide is not a victimless crime. All the people around them are subject to the aftermath. "Survivors of Suicide" in a family often suffer greatly for years. Financialy and Mentaly.

Many older life insurance policies paid off for Suicide. As long as the person was vested in the policy. Most of those were periods of five or more years to be so vested in them. It's to keep you from being able to take one out and then immediately profit from it they put those terms in them. Some of course specificaly do not pay off. Depends on the policy.

However that was not realy the subject of this thread as I saw it. Suicide and Mercy Death are two totaly different things in my book. Suicide is a persons metal state being so bemuddled and depressed and chemicaly imbalanced that they lead painfull unhappy lives. They chose to die because they cannot deal with the normal things in life. Someone wanting to die as to not suffer a long painfull illness to me is a totaly different thing. There is treatment for depression. Not so for an illness already termed "terminal". So I see them as totaly opposite things. And I can see there is room for mercy deaths. We do if for our beloved pets....
