I want to buy new skis and need advice.

It about time for me to upgrade the 2x4s I've been using as skis. I went the other day and tried out my friend's pair os Atomic SX 7s.

I thought they were great and was wondering if there were any other skis with the same sort of capabilities and characteristics. I don't want to buy the same ones, 1, because of the color, and, 2, I want to see what else is out there. I wasn't completely sold on sx 7s, although it could have been the price.

I'm currently looking at Atomic SX9s so if anyone has used them, I'd appreciate any feedback.

What ability skier are you right now? What ability do you want to get to this season?

Atomics are hard to go wrong with, but you need to find a ski that matches your current ability level and a bit above it.

Boots are a little different. I prefer a stiff boot to go with my Atomic 9.11's. They're carve monsters and I need a boot that can edge them like crazy. I picked up a pair of Head TiMor103 World Cups this season they're amazing.

If you want a really comfortable boot that has a moderate flex and lots of footbox room, check out the Diabellos and Heads, the majority of their boots are very comfy and warm and at this time of year you can find some smokin deals.

Get your boots ONE size smaller than your shoe size. The liner WILL compress down and "pack in" after a while. If you don't the boot will be loose and sloppy after it breaks in.

I almost at the point that I can do double black diamonds. I've always had skis that are too long and right now is especially true. They're 208cm and I'm only 6 feet. It doesn't become a problem till I hit some moguls. Then its really, really hard and not fun at all.

I'm a really agressive skier. I look like I'm out of control but really I'm fine. Ican avoid anyone in front of me and can slow down whenever I need to.

I'm thinking some 170 or 180cm SX:9s would be for me. And as a bonus, I like the color. I'm pretty sure I can use the bindings that I have now and get new boots later on (maybe during the summer).

      I'll take a look at those 9.11

1080s if you're serious about skiing.

I've heard that Atomics have their own bindings. However, I found a pair of sx 9s with them.

              What length do ya'll recommend?

I'm 6 feet tall and weigh 186lbs give or take.

Atomic skis do have their mounting hols predrilled.

You CAN have them drilled for other bindings.

180's should be plenty long enough.

Yea, but would I be able to put a pair of 412s on them later?

                      Found a nice price:

Anyone ever shop there? Also, does it seem like they're just selling one ski at that price?

Edit: I recieved an email from them that the price is for the pair. Now, do I trust them?

Hey everyone!! Thought I'd bring this backup since AO has been down for a while.

Bought those skis. They were supposed to be here yesterday. The bindings came yesterday (kind of frustrating; two packaged shipped to the same place, from the same place, at the same time, and the bigger one gets lost )

Its supposed to be here today now,but I got a question (especially for you lord): Think I can install the bindings myself or am I gonna have to take them to the shop?
I' suposed to go skiing this Saturday.

if you know what you're doing, install em yourself, but i'd recommend a shop if you have any doubts... remember.. they're expensive pieces of gear, and your life may depend on them staying together (if you ski crazy like i do sometimes...)

I'm on a pair of Rossi Bandit 198s (and I'm only 6') which are too long for me, my next pair is gonna be some short fat twin-tips so I can get into the halfpipe...

now that i think about it... i really need new boots...

What skis did you end up getting? I have a pair of 180 1080's with 1080 boots that I bought a year and a half ago and I like them a lot. I'm still getting used to them and to me it seems a little harder to parallel but I still have plenty of control unless I go really fast. I'm also starting to get into freestyle skiing and they are great for that. The only thing I don't like about them is I payed a little to much cause I didn't check around for the best price.

I bought the SX9s I am currently waiting for them (see above) This could seriously screw up my plans for this weekend. I freaking furious. I could've tracked the driver down by now and taken them from him. Gott go bug UPS
