Leaving for the Navy today!

Just thought I'd share. I'm leaving for the hotel this afternoon, then flying to Great Lakes, Illinois tomorrow for boot camp. I joined in the nuclear program, 6 year enlistment, 12kSB, but I might still end up going into NROTC instead. So, if I'm posting even less often than usual for a while, this would probably be the reason.

When I get back, I'll look up this thread, and see what kind of responses it got. Maybe I'll even get my post count up over 500, after all this time!!

If I wind up in the nuclear school, I should actually get to meet some of you eventually.. it's in SC!!

good luck at boot camp. Haha, I commercially fish during the summer and I have to spend a month on 32' fishing boat (it is a big 32' boat, 16' wide), it gets old pretty quick and we get to go to land when we don't have to fish (little indian villages with 3 miles of road are pretty exciting). Here is a little story my uncle that is a Captain in the Navy told me "When the Navy wants to build an O-club, first they build the ship and then when they run out of money building the ship they have to ask congress for more money to build the O-club. They get "Sorry, but your O-club isn't that important". The Air Force builds the O-club first and then then when they run out of money for the landing strips, they ask for more money and get it." Coincidentally my PAS for AF ROTC told me the same little story.
