(pi x radius sq x lenth (in inches))
but what is the calculation that will tell me how much air is needed to fire sone thing?
    please help

ask over in deep blue. elsewhere, we engineers are resting our brains from math. the best we can tell you is: dry fire your gun on a full tank till the gun will no longer cycle correctly. subtract pressure in tank when full from current tank pressure. divide the difference by number of shots fired, and that's your average volume per shot.

There are probably MUCH better ways of calculating that won't involve error inherent in such experimentation, but I'm a busy engineering major during the week and frankly, if anyone seriously talks math (not arithmatic like you guys do in HS. I'm talking MATH: higher level calculus, differential equations and worse) to me on the weekends, I will hurt them .
