Thank God! I hated Brosnon as Bond. Aside from Connery (of course), Timothy Dalton was my favourite. Sean Connery is the classic Bond, but Timothy Dalton had the dark, "tourtured soul" thing that made him a believable Bond. Moore was just cheezy... hated him more than Brosnon.

Connery is my favourite Bond, but Brosnan is second, followed by Dalton, Moore and finally Lazenby. It may be that I just liked the Connery films better, since I really like the way Brosnan played 007. Fleming envisioned him as a playboy and a dark hero, and I think Brosnan portrayed that best.

For the dark hero part. Like said above, Dalton played that role better than anyone. Connery was a great bond, especially for being the first. Moore held the role with good quality but not the best. Brosnan played the role tremendously. He really did envision what bond was. Do we even need to talk about Lazenby?
I say we should get The Crocodile Hunter to play the next bond.

I don't think Brosnan was bad, I think he played the spy aspects pretty well, like when he was pretending to be a big international business guy he put on the role and was believable...

Connery was the best IMO... the dude has gotta be one of the most suave actors ever!

so who's a good Brit/Scot/Irishman who could fill the role in the future?

IMO Connery was the best bond. Pierce did an ok job but the scripts/plots or the last few are terrible. I really can't think of a Irish/Scotch actor that is as debinair as Connery.

It just hit me that Hugo Weaving (Agent Smith) could probably pull it off. It's questionable whether he has enough 'star power' to draw, though I guess the case could be made that [1] Who hasn't seen either The Matrix or Lord of the Rings? and [2] the 007 franchise is big enough to sell tickets on it's own.

I think Hugh Jackman has all the qualities to play Bond as well, though his studio ties to Fox and The X-Men might be a problem.

I think either would make a very watchable film.

i dont know they really dont fit the bond style in my opinion, im really trying to think of a good actor that also fits that kinda character (like the look and such)

I've heard rumors for a while that Christian Bale is getting some serious looks as the next James Bond.

I would totally be for that. I think that Bale has what it takes to be a kick butt Bond.


As far as ranking the Bonds, I gotta go with Connery>Brosnan>Moore>Dalton>Lazenby.
