i read that with a sense of dread, sort of...

for those who are going to complain about russia, i say this:

I would imagine that the missile shield that was developed against the treaty took more than 2 years I would not be too suprised to see Clintons name on the ok to develop/fund the shield. I know you hate Bush but he did not cause all of these problems that you would like to blame on him!

P.S. did you see they found uranium inrichment devices in iran thanks to bush?

The ignorance of the weak-minded is hilarious to me. First of all, Kyoto was a junk treaty, which sought to punish the United States for being the most industrialized nation on this planet. We don't need to rent air. If someone doesn't like what we are doing, they can pony up the troops and try to stop us. Otherwise, they better shut up while we drive.

Second, missles that are unstoppable by a missle defense shield have been around for twenty years. We have them and the Russians have them. When the first ABM agreement came out, and missle shields were written off, both sides made anti-shield missles anyways, because those were not.

Which is why Russia's objection was mearly political sabre rattling. They had to own up to the fact that their country is weak and vulnerable, and they want us to remain in the same state. But they are no longer a super power, they are a crippled nation. They should accept their place. A people should know when they have been defeated.

Uh, after the wall came down, we found out that Russia was largely a paper tiger. At least half of their claimed silos for launching ICBMs were, in fact, abandoned, and never contained a missle at all. Not to say that they werent a real threat...they were just perceived as a much larger threat than they actually were. And, with their economy in the toilet...couldnt this, maybe, be just propaganda? I mean...they dont even feed their troops....a buddy of mine here in Cuba just got back from adeployment from bosnia where they worked hand in hand with these guys....they trade clothing for food...a sergeant or below doesnt normally even collect a paycheck. Another paper tiger, perhaps?
