Good to know that somone of Tom's status seeks "relief" from a sport he helped create. A sport now ruled by a single patent.

You need to decide whether or not you want 4wd.

First off, as CasingBill said, do you want 4 wheel drive? As you mentioned a river, I would assume yes. Where you would be riding, would you even be able to go extremely fast? If not, you don't need to get the fastest ATV out there.

Where I ride, 4 wheel drive would be a waste, as it is mainly dry, and the hills aren't too bad. The trails I ride on don't offer much rom to go too fast, so my ATV's are just basic 2WD. We currently have 4 Polaris 325's, but we've had a total of 7 since 1996. In the past 8 years, we have not had one problem with any of them. We originally went with Polaris because of the automatic tranny (My Father is handicapped and cannot drive a manual) and the full floor boards. Now these are available on most 4 wheelers, so I would just suggest you go out and look, you'll most likely find that one or two companies will suit your needs while others won't.

Banshees are nice if you like a 2 stroke, But a 400ex is perfect ride, great with trails jumps and a nice 4stroke. and i would really look into a z400 and kfx 400(SAME EXACT THING ACCEPT FOR THE DEALERS!)
They are absoultly great for prett much everything.
I dont think that you would get a good price for them used though them being not that old. Warriors are nice too.

I bought a little Honda 250 SPorttrax - I dont need the speed, its lights enough to pick out of anywhere I get it stuck, and its a lot of fun, not to mention it was cheap hehe. But there are better ones out there, I would stay away from the 2 strokes but thats personal lazy preference
