doin 30 for throwing a snow ball?

Yeah, so today I was driving over to my friend's house, and I see them on the side of the road. They throw some snow balls at my car. ha ha funny. So I drive to his house and start to walk up the road to meet them. Then, out of nowhere they start running towards me yelling RUN RUN RUN!! So I run with them, and to my disbelief here comes a cop. After we run and duck behind people's houses and such they explain to me that earlier they threw a snow ball at this old ladie's car. She called the cops on them. So after waiting in these people's back yard for 15 minutes we decide it's ok to go up to the street. I was walking towards my car (to get some stuff, we were gonna blow some stuff up) when I see the cop pulling into the culdesac. I quickly get into my car and start to drive away like i am going out of the neighborhood. The cop then flashes his lights and me and pulls me over. here is the conversation we had:
    Cop: "hello"
me: "hello, is there a problem?"
cop: "you didn't happen so see some kids throwing snow balls at cars did you?"
Me: "well..yes...they threw some at my car."
Cop: "i talked to some other kids and they said that they saw you driving kind funny and then quickly driving away"
me: "yeah, thats because they threw some at me and i didn't want them to hit my car anymore." (keep in mind these people are my friends
cop: "do you know who they are?"
me: "well... i didn't really get a good look at them, so I'm sorry i can't help you."
Cop: "Oh, are you driving around looking for them too?"
Me: "no sir, i don't really care that they threw them at my car."
Cop: "Oh well, this lady and i are looking for these kids. Just keep your eyes open. They shouldn't be throwing snow balls at people's car because throwing objects at moving vehicles is a terroristic offense and that's a felony."
Me: "oh, sorry i can't help you"
    Cop: "have a good day"

I thought about going back to my friends house, but i decided to get out of there. now my question is
Can you be sentenced to jail for 30 years for throwing a snow ball at somebody's car?

Yes. But that depends on a lot of things, not JUST the act of throwing the snowball.

You would be surprised what you CAN be sentenced to for various offenses and the circumstances around them.

Throwing snowballs at cars is not only stupid, but it is dangerous. If I ever heard of MY kids doing that, the Police would be the least of their worries.

Well, I really dont think some kids (especially if they are under 18, obviously) would serve 30 years for being immature (immature = ok, but its still an immature act that wouldnt be punished by 30 years)

Now the real reason I posted was because I wanted to compliment your AWESOME sig picture.

A felony means the sentence is more than a year, not 30 years.
Most likely they would get yelled at, parents called and pay for damage to the car. Possibly they might get like a months probation or some community service, they won't convict them of anything serious for throwing snow.
On the other hand if they threw a snow ball, and somehow that caused the person to get into an accident, and people end up dead or hurt. Guess who is responsible for all the damage, injuries, and deaths?

Ok, I understand where you guys are comming from. Nobody was hurt, and nothing was damaged. And I understand that they would be responsible for repairing damages, medical bills, or what have you...but don't you think its crazy that just because this old woman is cranky she calls the cops and they are on the patrol for over an hour? (they just called me and said they are still driving around) Also, isn't it slightly ridiculous to say throwing a snow ball is a felony, let alone a terroristic attack? It's not our fault we never get snow

He probably told you that because he suspsected you may have done it and wanted to scare you into not doing it again.
Ive delt with old ladies whose goal is to use the rest of there life making everyone elses miserable as well. We were always pretty friendly with my neighbor, when she had surgery my parents went over every day to make sure she was alright, and they cooked dinner for her. All of a sudden she goes into physcho mode. She claimed we shot her cat with a BB gun, and it needed surgery (there was a pelet in the cat, not a BB). Next she claimed we shot holes in her house with bb guns and wanted us to pay for it (another lie). Then we had to stop using out go-carts because she would call the police. She called the town because our bushs were too high (out of ordinance) instead of speaking to us about it, while her fence, and her bushs were also out of ordinance. She poured weed killer on our vegtable garden. Wrote a letter to the local paper making it sound like my step brother skateboarding in the street, and us playing basketball was the most horrible thing in the world. Comes out screeming at 6 o'clock because we are using a gas remote control car for about 5 minutes. And thats just getting started. All unprovoked, she is just a miserable old lady with nothing better to do than try and make other people miserable too.
Then at the gas station I worked at was another old lady who came in all the time. She would only go to one pump, and would pull up behind any car that was there and just start honking her horn. If you asked her to stop she started screaming at you about all kinds of thing like how the guy was intentionally taking a long time. Then she wanted her oil, power steering, transmission fluid, and break fluid checked. And if anything was low I wasn't allowed to touch it, I had to get one of the mechanics to do it because apparently I was incapable of putting oil in. The greatest time was when she demanded I open her hot radiator, I tried explaining to her, and she wouldn't here it. So I go grab about 4 rags, put them over the cap, put on a glove ask her to take a step back which she did. Then I opend it just like she asked. Of course she went crazy, went and talked to my boss, I got yelled at. As soon as she left, he started cracking up and told me good job.

Then there were the people who demanded I give them a discount on gas because I was raising the price.

I know what it's like to be distracted. You have every right to be mad at somebody that threw a snow ball at your car. And to answer your question, no I am not "better." But I do think they are over reacting just a little bit. And I also think that my friends were stupid to do this in the first place.

haha I doubt that you would get charged with anything for throwing a snowball at the old ladies car. When I was younger me and a couple of friends thought it would be funny to throw a couple eggs from my car at this girl. Well anyways she called the cops I got pulled over and the guy who through the egg just got a warning. Also when the cop said that it is a terrorist act he was lying to you! Cops lie all the frickin time to try and get you to admit things. One of my friends got pulled over (small island town of less than 3500) and the cop asks him if he has any weapons of mass destruction, Give me a break.

Unless gargantuan snow-boulders are being thrown directly at windshields, they aren't going to cause enough of a distraction to cause an accident. If you can't manage to keep control when a snowball hits the side of your car, you should not be on the road -- plain and simple. People are so disgustingly uptight it sickens me. Kids going to jail for throwing snowballs and eggs, it's totally unheard of.

Sure, if my house/car got egged and I caught the kids, I'd be upset and make them clean it up, but I'd never even begin to think of calling the police on them. I have better things to do with my time, and I would HOPE that my tax-money is going to better things than calls like this.

Compare it to a rock flying off the road. but quieter. Oh no, you get hit in the windshield. Can't see well? Signal right and pull onto the side of the road.
