Question about who should pay for my stolen bike.

My bike was at a friends house where it was then stolen from the front porch while I was there. Can I make the people who live there pay for the bike? If not is there anything I can do to make something of it?

I think the person that stole the bike should pay.

Or you for leaving your bike sitting around.

If your friend was borrowing the bike, then you sort of have a reason to make them pay, because they didn't put it away. But the person who stole it should ultimatly pay.

if you brought your bike there and didnt tie it up/lock it then its your fault for being stupid. if your friend had borrowed it and it had been stolen becuase he hadnt locked it up then i'd make them pay for it.

I'm going to have to agree with this one.

have your parents call the claims department of whoever provides their homeowners insurance and see if you have a claim, also ask your friends parents if they can check too.

that would be your best bet. also make sure you file a police report.

you were there... you left it out... someone stole it. live and learn.
keep your eyes open for it, it was a local steal.
report the vin # to the authorities... when they bust people for stealing things, they inventory stuff like this against a database. they may be able to retrieve it (but don't hold your breathe).
good luck with saving up for your next bike.
