Joey...the fat kid is not going out for a 'team'. Thats an entirely different situation. He is simply in gym class. The gym teacher should pick the teams himself, so no one feels left out. And lets be realistic...'John Doe Junior' is not going to feel left out regardless.

They swarm with their party, they feel with their party, they are happy in their party's approval; and where the party leads they will follow, whether for right and honor, or through blood and dirt and a mush of mutilated morals."

Once again, you are wrong. This has everything to do with paintball. Just because I didn't use the word 'paintball' thirty times doesn't mean its not the subject. If you had the ability to read in between the lines and actually grasp the concept of what I'm trying to say, then you would realize that it has everything to do with paintball.

To the moderators, I am requesting this thread to be moved back to the main forum because it is NOT an off topic. I feel that I have proved this fact and that this mistake should be made up for.

      Thank you,
      Brett

        Hey.. I have a question....

Why is it that everyone feels SO sorry for the FAT kid? Why does everyone feel the need to pay close attention to how the FAT kid feels?

What about the very skinny kid? I think if you look at things you will see that THEY get if FAR worse than the fat kids do. And noone thinks twice about how THEY feel. Fat jokes are off limits, but you can say anything you want about skinny people, right? They don't have feelings... only FAT people do.... right?

How many times have you seen someone make offhand comments about a skinny kid, but act as if it was no big deal.... I think people need to examine things a bit more closely. Compassion and caring should be done for ALL, not just those who are visually larger. Skinny kids have feelings too, but I have NEVER seen them addressed.... but seen them hurt far too often.

(added... oh, and this IS a bit off topic. Just having one relevant Paintball point does not make it a General Paintball Topic. It is a topic about society in general, that just happens to spill over INTO paintball. I think it is a great thread, and would be a shame if it was closed because someone did not like WHERE it was posted. Let it be. Just my advice.)

        Just something to think about...

I've been alive too long to NOT belive that the general population is stupid. Why does Ellen still have a career? Why did the Mac take a back seat to IBM? Why do we still have an embargo against Cuba? Why does Kingman come out with a new gun every other day? MARKETING! If you tell a lie enough times not only does your audience start to believe it, but you do as well. Example: Hitler and his "final solution". How many Germans bought that line of crap? Enough to do the damage. So yes, I agree that the person is (or might be) smart, but people as a whole are overall pretty dumb.

And you mean to tell me Cockers DON'T shoot farther than other guns? Dang! Next you'll tell me 32 degrees guns aren't top of the line!

And no, I have nothing against Canadians, before I start getting flamed! Some of my favoriet Canadians are from Canada! (my only complaint with Canada is those dang Loonies. They make me feel like I'm tipping the dancer.... oops, I mean the waitress.... a quarter!)

            You're worried about kids feeling "left-out" ?

Whoa.. you're going to have to do a lot more than pick teams durring PE class.

You're going to have to choose who these kids can be friends with, what classes they're taking, etc...

Feeling left-out is part of school. It happens, and there's not much you can do about it.

I know what you're talking about. I'm not a very popular person at school. Yes, sometimes I feel left out in certain occasions, but It's better than being awkwardly placed with a bunch of people that would rather not have me there.

Not sure I agree with that, but point taken. Don't forget the kid with glasses, the one with asthma, CP, wheel chair, down syndrome, etc... The 'fat kid' could be a reference to any kid that is not 100% "normal".

What was the original question in this thread? Glad I have plenty of time at work to post!

Shartley, I agree with you. I am that skinny kid who got made fun of in high school, and I know how it feels. "Hit the weights, eat a hamburger, etc..." I know the deal. I was just using the fat kid as a conventional example of what goes on in gym class because I think more people can relate to it. I appreciate your advice, but I disagree with you. This thread is about ignorance in our society and teaching people the truth about paintball, therefore it should be in the Main Forum. I repeat, it is NOT an off topic. And if it was to be deleted then that would be a great injustice. I am being civil and courteous, and abiding by all the rules. So if someone were to delete it then that would be wrongful use of power.

Joey, so you're saying that its better to be all alone than to be placed on a random team?

                              ....

Heat just proved my point about ignorance. He just used it on gays instead of paintball. I'm sorry you feel that way, maybe someday you will realize that we are all human and did not choose what we would be like when we were brought into this world. And no, I am not gay. Black, white, gay, or whatever, we are all human.

Hey. Quit making fun of me.

I was always the skinny kid (still am), always picked last. I didn't really think much of it though. Even in high school, when I was on the bowling team the coach would never play me... I was smaller than everyone. Although I did have a higher average than everyone on the entire team... he even knew it! ("That's on paper, what matters is being able to deliver when it counts.") Yes, many an arguement ensued. He never even watched me bowl, he would have seen that the power on my ball and consistency was on a different level from the rest of the team. All technique... not brute strength.

But of course, I'm not one to let things go very easily... I signed up on a money league my coach was playing in so he would have no choice but to see me bowl.... We knocked his team out of the run, in the playoffs we blew them away completely... partly because I almost threw a 700, and my teammates were doing great. I ended up taking home a few hundred bucks, he went home with nothing. The money really wasn't a big deal to me, the blowing him away part was priceless.

But I tell ya what... let them judge you. They're idiots, so why should you care. Be content in that you try hard, do your best, and are a good sportsman. That to me is more important than talent and win/loss ratios. (But it is nice if you can thoroughly whoop those dirtbags sometimes )
