Computer trouble Help!!

Hey. My computer has been acting very strange as of latley. I go to open up an aplication like word or internet explorer and it gives me one of those red X boxes and say somthing like "cannot find _______(or one of its components)make sure the path and file name are correct and that all the proper libraries are available" It wouldnt have bothered me if it was one program but its about all of my aplications. Please help !!!!

have you uninstalled any other programs lately? only thing i can think of is sometimes when you uninstall something it will think there aren't any other programs using specified Direct Link Libraries (.dll files) which it was and will delete them. maybe do a quick windows reinstall, see if that helps..worth a shot
