They are just .midi files i think. When you get one sent to your phone how do you save it? I tried it once and received it in the form of a text message that was a bunch of random letters.

Its easy to make them yourself. You can convert anything to a polyphone ringtone. MIDI, WAV, whatever.

First off, you need a converter for most phones. Some phones will play Midi's in Midi format, some need a special format.

If you are going to convert a midi, its a simple process. The program explains it.

If you are going to convert a Wav, you need to degrade the quality of the wav first. It sounds odd, but a high-quality wav sounds like absolute garbage on a cell phone, you need the lowest 8-bit setting or whatever the lowest WinAMp will export as.

        Then convert that crappy Wav.

Ive made tons of ringers for my cell phone this way (Samsung A620, aka the VGA1000). They all work great.

I think I have the program I used at work, there are different programs for different types of phones. If you have a phone similar to the A620, I can prolly send you the software.

As for getting the file to your phone, I believe the size was called MBuzzy.com, but there are others. They let you upload like 10 or 15 ringers for free (You can delete some and upload more, just 10 or 15 max at once on your account). Then you can send the ringer right to your phone, or the phones of your friends, right on the website.

It took me like 2 hours to figure out the steps and find the tools, but making the ringer takes like literally 2-3 minutes per ringer.

that's for GSM phones only. Anything for CDMA phones?

My provider is wicked cool. First they charge you for the service of letting you look at when you MIGHT want. Then then charge you for using the service in kilobytes. Then they charge you for using the service to brows the ring tones ( this may be third party ) then they charge you around 2$ per ring tone.

So you first ringtone is around 50$ every one after that is about 5$ unless you roll over to the next month, then you have to pay for all the services again.

I should create a website that can upload ringtones, I could make a fortune!
