    Great literature

I'm looking for suggestions on great literature. I love to read, and I love to be changed by a book after I put it down. Some of the most life-altering books I have read are:
    The Catcher in the Rye
The Perks of Being a Wallflower
Fight Club(haven't even seen the movie yet)
Fast Food Nation(its about how McDonalds is corrupting the world)
    Black Boy
    Breakfast of Champions
    Memories of My Ghost Brother
    Tuesdays With Morrie
    The Grapes of Wrath
Corn 'Pone Opinions(great short story by Mark Twain)

If anyone has any suggestions on great books for me to read than please post them. I will read anything.
    Thank you,
    Brett

They swarm with their party, they feel with their party, they are happy in their party's approval; and where the party leads they will follow, whether for right and honor, or through blood and dirt and a mush of mutilated morals."

      Dune Series....

How many books are in the series? It sounds interesting.

Tuesdays with Morrie is one of my favorites. Good reading!

Try Tom Brokaws "The Greatest Generation". Real heartfelt insight of the men and women that took on WWII in America.

Try Death be Not Proud by John Gunther. Quite inspirational story of a child fighting for his life, and how he is able to continue living his life. It is a true story as well. Too late to give a good review...here is one from amazon.com

              Book Description
Johnny Gunther was only seventeen years old when he died of a brain tumor. During the months of his illness, everyone near him was unforgettably impressed by his level-headed courage, his wit and quiet friendliness, and, above all, his unfaltering patience through times of despair. This deeply moving book is a father's memoir of a brave, intelligent, and spirited boy.

A great read, it will change the way you think about things.

              -Chris

I just finished reading "All Quiet On the Western Front" and OMG, that is a FANTASTIC book!! I highly reccommed it to anyone who loves great literature. Really shows the futility of war, but the imagery, plot and the way the author tells the story is just A+++ all the way. I love to read too and have read tons of books. My next project is to read
Fellowship of The Rings but I dont know, JRR Tolkin writes some pretty heavy stuff, might just see the movie instead

three (I know it's a lot) of my fav's are:
Anthem by Ayn Rand (very 1984)
Illusions by Jonathan Bach (short but mind blowing)
and Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card

                        books books books!

i read a LOT! hehe. Dune is definitely good. there's a lot of people who consider it to be the best science fiction book of all time. the first three are better than the rest. i haven't read the prequels. i heard that they're good cause frank herbert made the plot but they don't have the depth that the original series had. i guess the son isn't as into it as his father was.

Ender's Game is a very good sci fi book. It's about a genius kid being trained to be a soldier and save the world. if you liked the training sequences from soldier or starship troopers this book will blow your mind.

i'll post again when i think of some more.

i just realized both my books have already been mentioned. i feel so unoriginal. i'm definitely gonna post again later.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I will try to get a hold of all those books. Do you have any other suggestions not focused on sci-fi but rather on realism? If so, they are greatly appreciated.
                          Thank you,
                          Brett
