    Adding a second hard drive

    Hey all-

I was doing a bit of spring cleaning when I came across a pair of old PC's I have. I tried to get them running, but I haven't had a lot of luck. I'm kind of curious as to what I have left on those hard drives. So, what's the best way to get my current system, a Pentium 3 running Windows ME, to recognize the drives, one which has win 95, the other win 98, without lots of sparks and explosions?

Plug it into the same chain as the current HD as a slave. There should be one other plug on the cable going to your current hard drive.

Its pretty easy, just hook up the IDE (flat) cable, and plug in any power plug that reaches.

That's it. Make sure you touch something metal before you handle the hard drives or reach inside the case. You can usually just touch the side of the case or something. Static electricity is the enemy

you also have to set one of the drives as the master (the one you are currently using), and the other as the slave. to do this, look around on the harddrive, there will be a chart on it somewhere that shows how the jumper needs to be set. the juper will be on the same side where all the cables plug in.

That's all, huh? I'll give it a shot. Will it just show up as another drive?

Yep, that's all. Plug it in with right jumper settings, and it should appear magically =)
