I'm ticked off. I just spent 300 bucks on a pair of hockey skates. They were marked down from 375 because a newer model came out. I just looked them up on the internet. I could have gotten them for 159!! I already heated them up and molded them to my feet so I can't get a refund either. Theses skates better be the last skates I ever have to buy. I just spent most of my tax return on them. Darn, I'm ticked. How can you buy skates online? I had to try on like, 6 pairs till I found one I liked.
I just got ripped off!

Re: I just got ripped off!
Or buy your size online and then return them to the store you purchased the originals from. If they are the same skate, no big deal and you just saved $141.Originally posted by gimp

Wait A minute..
A store front is different from the internet, Some guy has to buy the stuff stock it and wait to sell it. Like paintball stuff, you can go out to the internet and find whatever you want cheaper most of the time than in the store, but do you getto hold it or even shoot or try it on on the internet? Can you find what you want and have it that same day on the internet? No. So you pay a markup for retail. Now what Im sure happened is the place you bought your skates had them in stock for a time and now a new model is out and they marked the ones they have down and sold them. The place on the internet bought them after they had beeen cleared out by the maker at a greatly reduced cost and sells them cheaper.
Now you are talking about getting ripped off.
You are saying you will buy them on the internet then returning them to the store?
Who is trying to rip who off here?Comment

To be fair, that was me. I just posted it as an idea if he felt that strongly about it. I am not endorsing it.Originally posted by Enigma4you

I work in a retail PB Store and this thread kind of hit a nerve. Just like everyone I buy stuff off the net to save money. But I dont expect the local guy thatsells the same stuff to match the internet price just as I dont expect the internet place to have the service of the local guy. An example Gimp said he had to try on like six pair to get the one that fit, no doubt he tried them on in the same visit to the store and had the help of a person in the store to pick out what skates were best for him, Its my point of view that while he may have paid more for them than they sell for at other places he did it by choice, Its his fault alone that he paid more for them, however he did get them when he wanted them, he did not have to wait for them to come in and should he choose to return them he wont have to wait to do it. My advice is to keep the skates, you were happy with them untill you found them cheaper on the net.Comment

what type of skates? (just curious)I just spent 300 bucks on a pair of hockey skates
and I've had a few teammates buy thier skates off the internet; saying that they just saved $40... then they go to the nearest pro shop and they'll charge em $20 for the oven-fitting, and $15 for the initial (first) sharpening...Comment

Yeah, you guys are right. I didn't get 'ripped off'. I was just ticked when I go look them up on the internet and they're that much cheaper. I buy all my stuff at this place, and they're nice to me. I'd feel bad takin back a new pair that I ordered.
The skates are CCM 1052s. I've always used the CCMs. Good stuff.Comment

I buy my skates off the net all the time. Once you know what size you wear in a certain brand you're good to go. I always buy CCM or mission's so I can just get the same size. Last pair I bought were $300 off.
